If you have visited Samphire Hoe before, you likely have seen one of our friendly volunteers who work passionately to keep the site a beautiful space for both people and wildlife.

To celebrate , we want to give a heartfelt shout out to our volunteers and thank them for their commitment to keeping Samphire Hoe one of the best places in Kent to visit. The love and legacy of our volunteers - both past and present - is visible throughout the Hoe and leaves a lasting impact on those who visit.

Some of the things our volunteers do include: building infrastructure, creating artwork, cultivating plants, removing invasive plants, engaging with visitors, clearing litter, checking livestock, rolling goat shelters, surveying wildlife, and so much more - there's a little job out there for everyone!

Please enjoy some images of our volunteers hard at work across the years.

Sadly one of our lovely rustic looking dog poo bins has been burnt to the ground. All because a lit BBQ was put into it! Please enjoy the countryside responsibly.

The grass is always greener on the other side - quite literally! 🌱

Our herd of boer goats have been busy nibbling away at the bramble on the eastern section of the Hoe for the last few months.🐐

We had to temporarily close a path so they could graze undisturbed. Thank you for bearing with us during this time.

The ranger team have helped encourage them across the western section of the Hoe to their next home for the summer. ☀️

There is plenty of fresh plant growth for them to continue grazing, making space for lovely chalk grassland wildflowers that would otherwise be outcompeted.

As always, please keep to the paths and keep dogs on leads during your visit. Please do not approach or feed the goats as this could cause serious harm to both you and the goats.

🦅Join us for our Birds of the White Cliffs event, here at Samphire Hoe on Saturday 30 May! 🦅

Take a venture along the sea wall with your eyes to the skies. You may see the fastest animal in the world zoom past, the Peregrine Falcon. There could be an appearance from the UK’s closest relative to an albatross, the Fulmar. Or we may spot House Martins flitting around the cliffs as they build their nest for the summer.

Samphire Hoe Ranger Paul will be equipped with a telescope and binoculars at the Dover end of the sea wall to help you become a master of sea bird identification. Learn some fun facts you’ll want to tell all of your friends about the birds that call this special place home!
