**THREE SHOUTS IN ONE AFTERNOON FOR MUDEFORD RNLI**

Mudeford RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew were kept busy on the afternoon of 13 June, launching to three separate incidents along the Mudeford and Bournemouth coastline.

The first call came at 12.24pm to reports of three people in the water holding onto a capsized jet ski just 60 metres off Mudeford beach. The lifeboat launched at 12.34pm and was on scene within six minutes, where it was established the casualties had managed to recover the jet ski and return safely to harbour.

While returning to station, the crew were re-tasked at 1.01pm to a vessel taking on water around half a mile south of Bournemouth Pier. On arrival, the occupants chose to remain onboard. Lifeboat crew placed a salvage pump on the vessel and remained on scene while it was taken under tow and later brought ashore at Sandbanks, where further assistance was available.

The third call of the day came later in the afternoon to a broken-down jet ski drifting towards Chewton Bunny with two people onboard. The lifeboat launched at 4.43pm and, due to swell conditions, towed the jet ski and its occupants safely back to Mudeford Quay.

The lifeboat returned to station and was back on service by 5.45pm.

Helm Nathan Jauns said:
“Even in calmer conditions there can be unexpected swell. All personal watercraft users should be prepared for the possibility of capsizing. Always wear a suitable lifejacket, carry a means of calling for help, and make sure you know how to right your craft.”

So far this year, Mudeford RNLI’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat *Henrietta H* has launched 27 times.

If you’re heading out on the water, please check conditions, stay within your limits, and make sure you’re properly equipped.

A really special moment on the water this week as Mudeford RNLI were honoured to support the annual Blessing of the Waters.

Organised by All Saints Church, Reverend Wendy Cooper was rowed out into the Run by local fisherman and Mudeford RNLI volunteer Helm, Pete Dadds. Members of the Mudeford RNLI crew onboard their Atlantic 85, Henrietta H, helped ensure everything ran smoothly on the day.

In true Mudeford style, Wendy perched on top of a lobster pot to deliver the blessing — offering prayers for the safety of RNLI crews, local fishermen, and all who make their living or spend time on the water.

From all of us at Mudeford Lifeboat Station, we extend our heartfelt condolences to our fellow search and rescue colleagues at Marine Rescue NSW, following the tragic incident in Ballina, Australia.

The loss of their two volunteers is felt on a global scale and is a sobering reminder of the immense danger search and rescue volunteers face every day at sea. We recognise the profound impact tragedies like this have on families, crews and communities. Our thoughts are with them all.

We honour the courage, commitment and selflessness of those involved, and of everyone who dedicates their lives to saving lives at sea. They will not be forgotten. Fair winds and following seas 💙

Last night was the darkest night ever experienced by Marine Rescue NSW.

Marine Rescue NSW volunteers answer the call for help 24/7 and last night six members from Marine Rescue Ballina did just that. They launched with a single mission, to save lives on the water and assist a yacht, reported to be in difficulty off the South Ballina break wall.

Tragically, two of our volunteers lost their lives during the response.

Marine Rescue NSW Commissioner Todd Andrews said the devastating loss is a solemn reminder of the risks faced by volunteers who serve their communities.

“These two men were serving their local community and have made the ultimate sacrifice to help others.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and loved ones of the deceased, their fellow crew members, the brave radio operators who handled the difficult communications during the incident, the entire Marine Rescue NSW family and the wider Ballina community during this incredibly difficult time.

“We are supporting our volunteers and their families through professional counselling and chaplaincy support.

“We ask that the privacy of those involved and their families be respected during this difficult time,” Commissioner Andrews said.

CONGRATULATIONS MUDEFORD RNLI - First lifeboat station presented with RNLI Green Award

Mudeford Lifeboat Station has now become the very first RNLI lifeboat station to earn a Green Award, making small changes that have been embraced by the crew at the station.

Simple energy saving wins like heater timers, a new efficient dehumidifier, and ‘last one out’ reminder signs have all been adopted, as well as tracking energy data so opportunities for improvement can be seen.

Working towards Green Aware status the Mudeford RNLI volunteer crew said it helped them realise the station isn’t just a building, it’s part of the local environment they care about, prompting them to complete a spill response drill and training.

The RNLI’s Sustainability Team launched the RNLI Green Awards last year. These awards recognise the sustainable actions happening across lifeboat stations and support the RNLI’s wider environmental ambitions by highlighting everyday efforts and inspiring simple, practical improvements.

The entry-level award, Green Aware, focuses on building awareness and celebrating initial wins by using RNLI environmental tools, reflecting on current practices, spotting small changes, and recognising what stations are already doing well. These changes are small and simple, but can add up to make a big difference.

Today, we mark the Centenary of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth.

A special event was held at Buckingham Palace to commemorate the legacy of Her Late Majesty, the longest serving RNLI Patron who held the role for 70 years.

Our charity is eternally grateful to Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family for their ongoing support of our lifesaving mission.
