I had a great question recently where a 'Dad' asked me 'Okay so making my daughter look great is one thing, but what can you dop for her Dad?'
I think is a great question and one that other people might be wondering too so here is my answer:

Wow! That is an excellent question and pretty much worthy of a blog post in it's own right, but I will try to answer succinctly for FB.
Dad's are often the most reluctant to engage pre-shoot and regularly have a reputation for tightening up, grimacing or just not looking natural in photos.
The short answer is that I use dirty tricks!
The slightly longer answer is that it starts before the shoot with helping to choose great natural locations, using the light, advising on wardrobe for the shoot, engaging everyone on the shoot and keeping it fun for the whole family, choosing activities and scenarios that people genuinely enjoy and getting the families all having fun together so that the Dad's and Mum's are reacting naturally and spontaneously along with the kids.
I personally believe that you can't beat 'honest' emotion and this is what I capture because I want the images that I make with my clients to bring back memories of a lovely day made up of great moments for them as a family not a 'painful experience' that they managed to live through.
This approach let's me create the style of images that I love and the type of images that my clients want to cherish for the years to come.... I hope this answers your question.
