Last night's rescue was a Buzzard that was found grounded at a property near Fivehead. When we caught him up and examined him we realised the extent of his injuries. Sadly we had no other option other than to end his suffering 😔

This beautiful Buzzard was taken in to Haydon Vets after being found grounded in someone's garden, unable to fly. We think it was stunned and unable to fly probably after being hit by a vehicle. Now eating well and going to a aviary for a few days before release 🙏🤞

Today's rescue, this Tawny Owl has had a collision, probably with a vehicle. He was taken to another vet in Crediton and we picked him up this morning. Not looking good I'm afraid, clearly a head trauma, off to see our Vet tomorrow 😪

Today's rescue...

We were called to a property in Bridport where a young fledgling Jackdaw had got itself trapped behind a garden shed. Unfortunately when they tried to help it they were met by the aggressive adults that were just trying to protect their young chick.

They called us and we went to help. Yes the adults were there kicking off, understandably. With the help of the property owners, we managed to move the shed enough so that Matt could squeeze himself behind the shed and retrieve the chick. Although we think it might of been there for a while we discussed the next move and agreed that, although a little underweight the best place for it was with the adults. So Matt managed to get it up in the tree, where the adults were very vocal and determined to get to the chick. We then left them all quietly to reunite. 🤞🤞🤞

A busy couple of weeks with the rescues.

Image 1. A young Tawny Owl was found at the Untied Reformed Church in Sidmouth, we think it may have been found somewhere else and left there as there are no signs of any Tawny Owl nests as this was a built up area.

Image 2. A young Tawny Owl chick found in Bridport, damage to wing, very underweight and was handed into Bredy Vets.

Image 3. A young Kestrel was found out near Crediton after falling out of the nest, the chick had been out in the hot weather all day on Tuesday and when we got there it was dehydrated, underweight and suffering from heat stroke. We are monitoring the nest with the other 3 chicks in to make sure the parents are still coming back to feed them. Sadly we had to bring the this little one back with us to treat him, otherwise he wouldn't have survived.

Image 4. This baby Tawny Owl was taken into a vets in Weymouth by a member of the public. Now this one is a very poorly and very underweight, we have settled it in and fingers crossed.

After a year of trying to rehome the Pidgeon's we rescued last year, this amazing charity were the only people that helped us, after numerous calls to many Pidgeon rescue organisations that were no help at all.

Thank you so much for taking on the birds and we can now work and support each other with wildlife rescues, which is how it should be!!!
