Today is a sad day for Dorchester, our temporary Watch Manager Michelle Rodway is retiring.

She served Dorchester since the year 2000, attending many incidents not just locally but also in Bournemouth, Poole and even across the borders.

She will be massively missed, her dedication and loyalty are second to none.

Thank you Michelle - it’s been an absolute pleasure.

At 5:26am a crew from Dorchester were mobilised to a car fire on the Puddletown bypass.

When we got in attendance, the car was well alight, and in the bushes on the side of the bypass. We got to work with breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to suppress the fire and make the area safe.

Once the job was finished, we handed it over to the police, left and refuelled.

🚨 Fire call 🚨

Yesterday crews from Dorchester and Bere Regis Fire Station attended a fire in Puddletown forest involving trees and a deep seated fire in the peat ground.

Both Appliances from Dorchester and a L4P from Blandford Fire Station have just re attended the scene again today, due to hotspots and are currently damping down using one hosereel jet.

We urge people to avoid having BBQs or camp fires, due to the high risk of a fire starting and getting out of control in the recent dry weather.

At 02:56 this morning a crew from Dorchester on call, a heavy off road appliance from Bridport Fire Station and a L4P from Bere Regis Fire Station responded to reports of a fire in the riverside nature reserve in town.

On arrival the crew found that there was a large fire involving the composite decking walkway on the nature reserve.

Due to the distance from a road, the crew ran out 120 meters of hosereel which was then connected to approximately 120 meters of main line fire hose to extinguish the fire.

Please do not go into the nature reserve at this time, due to the walkway being severely damaged and compromised.
