APPEAL | We are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision near Dorchester.

We received a report at 11.57am on Sunday 14 June 2026 of a collision involving a Suzuki motorbike and a silver Vauxhall Zafira car on the A353 at Poxwell.

SENTENCED | Enquires by Dorchester Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) have led to a man being sentenced for car thefts in Dorchester.

Dorset Police received a report in the early hours of Sunday 15 March 2026 that a white Audi A5 had been stolen from outside an address in All Saints Road.

A further report was received that a bank card left within the car had been fraudulently used at a shop in Christchurch Road in Boscombe.

Then, on Friday 10 April 2026, a black Land Rover Range Rover was stolen from outside an address in Mountain Ash Road.

Investigations were launched into both incidents and as a result of enquiries by the Dorchester NPT, a 37-year-old man from Dorchester was identified as the person responsible.

He was issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 11 June 2026, charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, disqualified driving, driving with no insurance and committing fraud by false representation.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges against him and was sentenced to 8 weeks in prison and disqualified from driving for 19 months.

Both vehicles were recovered and returned to their owners.

Police Constable Glen Caddy, of Dorchester NPT, said: “Our enquiries enabled us to identify the person involved and ensure he was brought before court to face justice for his actions.

“We hope this provides assurance to our Dorset residents that we take reports of vehicle theft seriously and will explore all lines of enquiry available to us.

“We would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to ensure their vehicles are left securely at all times, keep your keys safe and, if possible, park in a well-lit area.”

ALERT - SCAM E MAIL + PHONE CALL

I have recently been to see a victim of a scam who was expecting a delivery by a well know delivery company.
The company e mailed them to say due to fuel prices etc an extra charge is incurred.
Due to using that company regularly and knowing prices have increased they thought nothing of it and followed a link and paid the small charge.
A few hours later they received a call purporting to be from their bank about a loan in someone else's name and having to be paid.
Whilst they were a little sceptical the caller was very professional and convincing and they paid the amount asked.
The genuine bank made them aware and took all the details and fortunately they were refunded the money.

Scams can have a massive impact on someone's mental and physical well being.
No one is to blame for being a victim of a scam.
The only blame lies with the scammer.
