WEEK COMMENCING 7 SEPTEMBER

The Dementia group is growing very slowly but continues on Monday mornings. Come and join us if you need the company, even if not for reasons related to dementia or Alzheimer’s. A free cuppa and a friendly chat is on offer.

Sing it Up is having a holiday but will be back on 15 September.

The Young Carers group restarts after the summer holidays. If you are a family with a young carer, or know of one, this is a session of respite which happens fortnightly.

The Bargain tables continue

FRIDAY IS GRATITUDE DAY

Thank yous go to the parishioners of Christ the King RC Church from whom we received bags of very useful goods for our Food Train parcels.

Thank you also to the gentleman who brought in liquorice sweets for us to sell towards the fund that buys staples each week

Thank you to Food Aware CIC for the freebies that came with our regular order. Very useful. Thank you to Sean, Alan and Martin for that delivery.

Thank you to the team of volunteers who sort, shelve, pack and deliver the parcels which usually are a stone in weight. You are food heroes!

THANK YOUS ON FRIDAY

Firstly, to confirm, we will be closed on Monday for the Bank Holiday

Our donations started on Tuesday with Janet bringing in goods. She brought in a hoodie and we’re storing that for the winter when it will be given to someone in need of warmth because of heating issues. Thank you Janet.

Beth brought in a donation of pears from Andrea and they found their way into Food Train bags. Thank you to both ladies.

The Miner’s Mug sent us a food donation. Thank you Marie.

Following the Clutter Trail, the Tickhill Lions called in with the donation for the Food Train. Thank you once again to all who organised or participated. We were surprised to see the cheque showed more than we were told would come in and that 3 other local charities benefitted.

Thank you to our volunteers who ran children’s activities throughout the summer, courtesy of funding from the Parish Council and Asda.

Thank you all.

COMING UP WEEK COMMENCING 24 AUGUST

Monday is our Dementia Club social. Particularly aimed at supporting carers but if you want a chat with a free cuppa, you’ll be welcomed.

Kim is not available for Junior Zumba, so no class this week and it is the last Monday event of the Summer Activity Programme.

We do have the Woodland Walk on Tuesday and places are available to book. Hopefully, the visit will not be cut short by calls to the Fire Service this time.

Sing it Up is going from strength to strength and we make a much bigger noise these days. It’s definitely not a choir! But it’s lots of laughs.

Tuesday afternoon for that.

Thursday is Crafts morning, held at the Welfare, and if everyone turns up, it is full. That’s the last event of the holiday programme for children.

Thursday afternoon is Bingo. Five games and a raffle with free cuppas.

And we still have some tickets left for the Grandstand on St Leger Day at a great discount. Remember under 18s go free for that

FRIDAY GRATITUDE MESSAGES

We’ve had a wide range of donations this week:

We’ve had a duplicated wedding present given. Thank you R and J

Gaynor brought in produce from her garden and that went into the Food Train bags on Wednesday. On the same day, Sue brought in a great cash donation from the Keller Williams Hog Roast. That will help greatly with our staple food purchases. Thank you Sue and George and your clients.

They were also part of the sponsorship team for the Tickhill Lions Clutter Trail which took place last Saturday. Thank you to all the organising team and to those who paid to participate. Thank you also to Dave and Annette who did a sale on their front garden but also directed the potential buyers to our own tables which were on our back garden. The Lions have said it will be an annual event.

Thank you as always to Sean and the
Food Aware CIC team for the donations added to our regular purchase order.

Thank you to Deb who was the delivery person for St Michael’s and thank you to their parishioners for a great set of goods and a cash donation. Thank you to Jo for collecting the Asda customer basket of goods heading for the Food Train bags. Thank you to everyone who helped to fill that trolley.
