So Mews optic was removed for absolutely no reason.

The "great light" at Titanic Belfast is still broken and has been since the day after opening, this "heritage" project cost millions and ruined Mew Island lighthouse in the process.

It seems now that St John's point optic is staying in place and the LED is being placed in the original fresnal lens albeit with much reduced beam. They are trying out a ball bearing system for turning the optics instead of Mercury, we were told by CIL that this was impossible when Mew Island optic was removed so it seems the optic on Mew was removed for even less of a reason than stated. They whole reason they are removing these optics is because they say the mercury is a health hazard. Funny how it was fine in place for God knows how many years before they started messing with it.

Mew Island lighthouse foghorn, another piece of heritage that was removed from the island and dismantled. The foghorn and the optic should be returned to there former home.

Can't believe how lucky to have stumbled across this recording, the only one in existence of Mew Island lighthouse fog horn, this old recording is very true ...

It's about time the Mew Island optic was taken out of its glass tomb in Belfast. It has been broken since the day after they unveiled it, titanic foundation seem unable or unwilling to fix it. So why not out it back where it worked perfectly for so many years ?

Nobody wanted to help save Mew when the optic was being removed but want to "preserve" it now when the damage is done
