2374 (Ditton) Squadron Air Training Corps

Call Directions

2374 (Ditton) Squadron Air Training Corps 2374 (Ditton) Squadron is an Air Training Corps (Air Cadets) unit, based at the Army Reserve Centre, Ditton, Kent. Aged between 12 (in school year 8) & 17?

Parade nights Tuesdays & Thursdays 19:00 - 21:30 The Air Training Corps is the RAF's cadet force, with more than 40,000 members aged between 13 and 20 years, attending 900+ Squadrons all over the UK. The three aims of the Air Training Corps are:

1. To promote and encourage among young men and women a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force.
2. To provide training which will be useful both in the Services and in civil life.
3. To encourage the spirit of adventure and to develop the qualities of leadership and good citizenship. We are not a recruiting organisation for the RAF but if you're thinking about a Service career, cadet membership will put you ahead of the competition. Many cadets go on to great success in the RAF (and the other Services). In fact: around 40% of officers and 50% of all aircrew (including pilots, navigators and engineers) in the RAF now are ex-cadets. Research shows that they do better in basic training and stay in the Service longer than their colleagues. Likewise, if you chose a civilian career our research proves you can go on the great things… employers just love the skills and experience that Air Cadets offer. Up for something exciting, challenging and new? We're recruiting now! PARADE NIGHTS - TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS 19:00 - 21:30

It’s never too late to celebrate the amazing work the cadet forces adult volunteers (CFAV’s ) provide for the Sqn cadets.

Last evening the cadets wished to recognise the outstanding contribution from CI Goldsmith which I fully endorse, here’s what that had to say about him.

Cadet Flt Sgt Bright:-

CI Goldsmith has put in more than enough effort during his time so far with 2374 sqn. If not for his selflessness the sqn would most likely only run one day a week. He has continued to keep Sqn nights interesting and productive and I’m sure the other cadets would agree.
Thank you Sir ! we all appreciate you’re efforts.

Cadet Flt Sgt Woodhams

During time at cadets, the NCOs and cadets get recognised for their hard work and dedication to our squadron every month by getting cadet and NCO of the month, however I believe the the staff do not get as much recognition as they should.

CI Goldsmith has continued to show up every single cadet night, keeping it running and making it enjoyable and exciting for all cadets. Ever since he has joined our squadron he has made a huge impact on everyone here. If it wasn't for him we would most likely be running cadets nights once a week or sometimes not at all and I am sure every single person at our squadron, cadet or staff, can agree and cannot thank him enough.

Cadet Sgt Harris

CI Goldsmith is an amazing staff member, he’s always down, always helping and encouraging cadets to improve and it’s clear since he arrived at the squadron it’s improved because of how much he does.

Cadet Robson

CI Goldsmith is an excellent staff member he is always at cadets and at events and brings a lot to the squadron we / I have come so far with his help.

Cadet Middleton

CI Goldsmith is a brilliant staff member, he is constantly helping cadets be their best selves. He is always there, and the squadron wouldn't be as great as it is without him.

Last weekend 5 cadets from the Sqn completed their bronze DofE expedition via a canoe, here’s what they had to say about their achievements and experiences:-

The DofE was so fun and we all learnt so much along the way, everyone worked really hard as a team and contributed really well.
It was a great experience.
Cdt Middleton

DofE was really good it was a great opportunity to spent time with friends and enjoy the wildlife also to get through the long trip using teamwork with our group
Cpl Bush

I think that the Dofe expedition went very well and was an amazing experience because you get to know more about the people who are also participating with you on and get to build on team building skills.
Cdt Van der westhuizen

I really enjoyed the DofE expedition. It was hard work but well worth it in the end. If was interesting talking to everyone more than a usual cadet night and finding out more about them. We had an amazing time at the campsite and it was an amazing experience all together.
Flt Sgt Woodhams

A fantastic weekend Cdt Dalzell and Cdt Suleman both represented the Sqn and Wing at the Regional athletics competition.

Here’s what Cdt Dalzell has to say about his experience:-

“I enjoyed the regional athletics a lot and got to compete against strong javelin contenders. Overall it was a great opportunity to push ourselves as me and others broke our personal best, mine now being 39 meters. 1st place is great but I think having fun is even better”,
