An honour to attend the Lord Mayor of Leeds Abigail Marshall Katung’s Service of Remembrance for VE Day at Leeds Minster.

It was a moving and dignified tribute to all those who gave their lives in WWII, and to the brave survivors who lived through those times.

A special and proud moment for Morley as The Leeds Award was presented to 101-year-old Jack Mortimer, one of the last surviving WWII veterans, who was born and raised in Morley before joining military service in 1942.

We salute his courage and the legacy of all who served.
