๐ World Su***de Prevention Day | 10 September
Today, on World Su***de Prevention Day, we are highlighting the important role that Family Resource Centres can play in su***de prevention within their communities.
๐ข For Family Resource Centres
The FRCNF Su***de Prevention Code of Practice Training is available to the management, staff and volunteers of Family Resource Centres.
Developed by the FRCNF in partnership with the National Office for Su***de Prevention, the training supports FRC teams to build the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise and respond appropriately when someone may be experiencing suicidal thoughts. The training is co-facilitated with HSE Resource Officers for Su***de Prevention.
Many FRCs across Ireland have already completed the training, helping to strengthen our collective approach to su***de prevention across the FRC network.
We encourage FRCs that have not yet completed the training, or would like to find out more, to contact:

๐ For anyone who may be struggling
You do not have to know exactly what kind of support you need before reaching out.
Many Family Resource Centres provide low-cost or no-cost counselling and therapeutic supports, while others can help you identify and connect with appropriate supports and services in your local community.
If you are struggling with your mental health, or you are concerned about someone else, contact your local Family Resource Centre. They will listen, help you understand what support may be available locally and, where appropriate, help connect or signpost you to another service.

๐จ If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or at immediate risk of su***de or self-harm, call 999 or 112, contact your GP, or go to the nearest Emergency Department.
๐ Su***de prevention is a shared responsibility. Through awareness, training, connection and compassionate conversations, we can help build safer and more supportive communities.
