🎭 Strabane takes the next step on its Town of Culture 2028 journey!

This week, representatives from Derry City and Strabane District Council travelled to Manchester for the UK Town of Culture Information Day, joining the 15 shortlisted towns competing for the prestigious title.

Strabane had the opportunity to meet with programme organisers, government representatives and fellow shortlisted towns to learn more about the bid process and the exciting road ahead.

Now, we want to hear from you! This bid belongs to the people of Strabane, and we need your ideas, creativity and support as we continue to shape our vision for 2028.

A public information event on the proposed Eglinton Flood Alleviation Scheme has been organised for Thursday 17 September at Eglinton Community Hall.

The Eglinton Flood Alleviation Scheme has reached a significant milestone with approval of the outline business case including identification of a preferred option to reduce flood risk for the area. This public information event will offer residents, business owners and other interested stakeholders the opportunity to view the proposed flood alleviation measures, provide feedback and discuss the scheme directly with representatives from the project team and the Department prior to the next step which is to commence the detailed design stage.

Primary 4–7 pupils across Derry & Strabane are invited to design artwork for our recycling lorries — helping spread a positive environmental message right across the district

✏️Pupils are encouraged to create a design that highlights the importance of recycling food and garden waste through the brown bin service.

🚛As well as prizes for the winning artwork, it will also be professionally displayed on a Council recycling lorry, travelling past thousands of homes every week 🌍💚
