Introducing Adam, our candidate for Toftwood Town Council election ๐ŸŒน

Hello everyone, my name is Adam Birks and I am standing to be your town councillor in Toftwood. I have lived in Dereham my whole life and in Toftwood since I started high school. Because of this the community has a special place in my heart as it has shaped me as a person. I would play in the parks at the top of Sandy Lane when I was at home and when I visited my grandparents, we would walk my nanโ€™s guide dog to the park on School Lane. As I grew up, I studied in Dereham and I am now finishing my degree, which I have been fortunate enough to study remotely. My whole life's background is built around Dereham and Toftwood, and I have been lucky enough to see the greatness of the town. This is something I strive to protect, I promise to focus on local issues for local people if elected.

Our team has been out in Dereham today, talking potholes. A recurring issue for residents across the town. And taking a moment for a spot of spring cleaning too!

Thank you to everyone who helped in our General Election campaign. Of course we, like so many people across the area, are disappointed by the result but we are so grateful for having had the opportunity. Thank you to all our members, friends and volunteers who gave their time and energy to help get the message out across Mid Norfolk ๐ŸŒน

There is an overwhelming need for things to just work again. For all of us to be able to just get on in life. For there to be more certainty and more stability. For change.

Labour has a plan to transform Mid Norfolk including

๐Ÿšธ breakfast clubs in all of our primary schools

๐Ÿฆท more emergency dentist appointments

๐Ÿ›’ economic stability to make the pounds in our pocket go further

๐Ÿ’ฐ reforming business rates to help businesses on our high streets

๐ŸšŒ transforming public transport to make it easier to access day to day services from our villages

๐Ÿž clean up our rivers

๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ more neighbourhood policing so our rural communities have better responses to crime

๐Ÿƒ investment in our thriving green economy, bringing more jobs into our area

This change will only happen if we vote for it.

It shouldn't need saying that our government should provide economic stability so we can get on in life.

It shouldn't need saying that our MP should be full time and with no second job.

Yet here we are.

On 4th July vote for change.

I am standing as Labour's MP for Mid Norfolk because I'm tired of hearing about "campaigns" which never seem to result in change in our area.

In talking with people who live across Mid Norfolk, I hear time and again about never seeing our MP, not knowing what he has done for us, and a sense of being left to struggle through.

If elected MP, I will:

๐Ÿข open a staffed office in the heart of our constituency.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ๏ธ hold face to face meetings at times to suit you.

โ˜•๏ธ run regular in person surgeries across Mid Norfolk. If you can't travel because of disability or caring responsibilities or transport, I will come to you.

๐Ÿ–ฅ send regular email newsletters and reports to Parish and Town Councils (although it will, of course, be up to them whether or not they publish them!)

โŒจ๏ธ be contactable by letter, email, or social media with timely replies to all residents.

I will continue to live in the constituency. I will still be found in the supermarket on a Saturday morning, buying bread at Dereham market, and driving along our lanes ferrying family members about.

And importantly, I will put the interests of Mid Norfolk residents, businesses, and communities first.

On 4th July, vote for change. Vote Labour ๐ŸŒน

With Michael Rosen out, talking with residents in Lyng. Lovely weather and interesting conversations.

The main theme coming through loud and clear is the need for change. On 4th July, change can only happen if you vote for Labour.

๐ŸŒน

It was lovely to be in Lyng. Thanks to residents who gave me their time for a chat. Themes in conversation included cost of living especially the cost of heating and transport, access to Drs and the hospital, better road safety on the nearby roads, and a general sense of frustration with how things are and a looking forward to change.

Change only comes in our democracy if we vote in a new government.

I am asking to be Mid Norfolk's MP because I really believe that this change is both needed and wanted.l and Labour has the plan to deliver it.

Attleborough, Dereham and Watton are home to thousands of us here in Mid Norfolk. Every one of us wants to live, work, spend our down time or shop in a town which is thriving, where our family businesses can grow, and where our day to day needs are catered for.

It is clear that there has been precious little investment made in our towns. And too many of us feel that we are being overlooked and left to struggle on.

We're tired of being told that our politicians are working on campaigns. Change is needed. A commitment to invest is needed. And support is needed to make sure that our towns are attractive and thriving places to live, work, and shop.

Labour has a plan to

๐Ÿฌ reform business rates

๐Ÿ’ฐ help small business access funding

๐Ÿง provide banking hubs on our high streets

๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ bring in more neighbourhood police

๐Ÿ—ฃ crack down on antisocial behaviour

If elected as Mid Norfolk's MP, I will work with businesses in our towns, local government, and industry bodies to bring in the investment that we so badly need. While protecting our towns' heritage and all the reasons we love spending time there, I will make sure that we all benefit from Labour's plan for national renewal.
