St Giles Big Street party!

We had a wonderful time at the annual St Giles Big Street Party today, thank you to all the organisers and attendees who made the vent run smoothly and fun for everybody. We were very honoured to be invited and had a great time engaging with the public, having a tour of one of our marked vehicles, kit and equipment. It was a good opportunity for the public to ask questions about Police, how things may be investigated, or to have an update on issues in their area.

We have a number of events coming up over the next few weeks which we shall update accordingly.

Many thanks,

Sam 12829

🚓✨ Op Safe Drive – Normanton Road ✨🚓

Today, Normanton SNT were out in force on Normanton Road carrying out Op Safe Drive – keeping our roads safe and educating drivers 🚗💬
With the help of our colleagues from the Traffic Unit, we spent the sunny afternoon engaging with the community, and you certainly kept us busy! ☀️👋

🚨 What we dealt with:
🔹 2 illegal e-bikes seized
🔹 Drivers caught using mobile phones – tickets issued 📱🚫
🔹 Seatbelt offences identified – tickets issued 🚗✅
🔹 Vehicle checks carried out, including window tints – if they’re illegal, they’ll need to be removed 🚘👀
🔹 Plenty of words of advice given to help keep everyone safe
🔹 One male arrested for breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) who regularly begs in the area

It was great to see so many people stopping for a chat – positive conversations help us all work together to make Normanton’s roads safer 💙

👮‍♀️ Remember:
No phone use while driving
Always wear your seatbelt
Make sure your vehicle (and e-bikes!) are road legal
Check your window tints meet legal standards

We’ll be out again, so please keep safe and drive responsibly!

At Normanton SNT, we understand that not everyone is able to attend community meetings in person — whether that’s due to work, family commitments or other responsibilities. We still want to make sure your voice is heard, which is why we’ll be sharing a monthly post like this to give you an easy way to speak with us 🚔

Think of this as your space to tell us what matters to you. We want to hear your thoughts on what we’re doing well, where you feel we could improve, and what you’d like to see more of in your area. You can also raise general concerns about issues affecting the community so we can better understand local priorities.

While this page isn’t monitored for crime reporting, it is a place for open conversation and constructive feedback. If you do need to report a crime, please continue to do so through the appropriate channels.

We’re committed to making this a welcoming and respectful space for everyone in the community. Please remember that hate, abuse, or offensive language will not be tolerated 😊

Most importantly, we want this to feel like an ongoing conversation — not just something that happens at meetings. If you have a comment, question, or suggestion, drop it below. We’ll be doing our best to read and respond wherever we can 🚔😊

Normanton SNT Community Update 🌈

Today, one of our PCSOs attended the Derbyshire LGBT Centre to support their fantastic weekly community drop-in sessions. These sessions provide a safe, welcoming space for everyone — offering education, s*xual health screenings, and a supportive environment where people can connect and feel heard.

Importantly, these sessions are open to all, not just members of the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you’d like to listen to real-life stories, meet new people, enjoy a social atmosphere, or simply learn more about the incredible work the centre does, you will be warmly welcomed. With free refreshments, home-cooked meals, and a friendly environment, it’s a great opportunity to come together as a community.

These sessions take place every Wednesday, and they play a vital role in breaking down barriers between the police and marginalised communities. Building trust and understanding is at the heart of what we do.

PCSO Alvey is proud to work alongside numerous charities and organisations within the community. Engaging with people from all walks of life, faiths and beliefs - Helping to build stronger communities for everyone.

We hope everybody has a happy, safe, and inclusive time this month whatever you choose to do ✨

🌟 Normanton SNT – Big Lunch Community Day Success! 🌟

Today, we had the absolute pleasure of attending The Big Lunch event at Arboretum Park, proudly brought together by Neighbourhood Watch – and what an incredible day it was! 🙌

Right in the heart of Normanton, this event showcased the very thing that makes our area so special… its community. 💙

From start to finish, the park was filled with energy, laughter, and connection. A wide range of services and organisations from across Derbyshire joined us, all working tirelessly day in and day out to support, uplift, and improve the lives and wellbeing of those in our community. Events like this remind us just how strong we are when we come together.

👮‍♂️ As your local policing team, we had the privilege of speaking with hundreds of residents—listening to your views, hearing what we’re doing well, and understanding where we can improve. These conversations are what community policing is all about: being visible, approachable, and working with you to make Normanton the best it can be.

🚓 And of course… one of the highlights of the day!
Many of you got the chance to step inside the back of a police van, try out the lights and sirens, and experience a side of policing that not everyone gets to see.

(We’ll be honest… it still excites us too! 😄)
Moments like these are about more than just fun — they’re about breaking down barriers, building trust, and inspiring people of all ages to see policing in a new and positive light.

🐾 A special moment that truly captured the spirit of today…
During the event, we safely located a lost dog who had become separated from its owner. With care and compassion, we ensured the dog was taken to a local vets, where it will be looked after and reunited with its owner as soon as possible.
Because community isn’t just about people — it’s about looking out for every member of it, including our four-legged friends. Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. 💛

🌍 What stood out most today was seeing people from all backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life coming together to enjoy shared spaces, connect with one another, and celebrate everything that makes Normanton unique. This is what community looks like — welcoming, vibrant, and united.
👏 A huge thank you to:

Neighbourhood Watch for hosting such an inspiring and well-organised event
Derby City Council
The Police and Crime Commissioner
Sporting Communities
And every organisation, volunteer, and resident who made today so special

Events like this don’t just happen — they are built on dedication, passion, and a shared belief in the power of community.
💬 Normanton, you should be proud.

You are the heart, the strength, and the spirit of everything we do. Days like today remind us why we are committed to being your neighbourhood team, working alongside you every step of the way.
Let’s keep building, connecting, and celebrating this incredible community together. 💙

🚨⚡ E-SCOOTER CRACKDOWN DAY IN NORMANTON! ⚡🚨

Today your Normanton Safer Neighbourhood Team have been out in force tackling illegal e-scooter use across the area… and the results speak for themselves 👇
❌ 10 E-SCOOTERS SEIZED
❌ 1 HIGH-SPEED DELIVERY E-BIKE SEIZED (capable of 27mph 😳)
This isn’t just about enforcement… it’s about keeping our community SAFE.
🔥 Did you know?
E-scooters and modified e-bikes can pose a SERIOUS FIRE RISK – especially when batteries are faulty, damaged, or charged incorrectly. Fires involving these devices can spread rapidly and put lives at risk.
🚫 They are also illegal to use on public roads, pavements, and public spaces.
👮‍♂️ Our officers will continue to take action to:
✅ Reduce risk
✅ Prevent injuries
✅ Protect our community
💬 Please think twice before using one – it could cost you your property, a fine… or worse.

✨ Let’s keep Normanton safe together! ✨

INTELLIGENCE LED STRIKE – DRUGS & CASH SEIZED! 🚨

Officers from Normanton SNT have delivered a fantastic result following an intelligence-led stop on a vehicle linked to suspected drug dealing in the Normanton & Stockbrook areas.
👮‍♂️ What happened?

PCs stopped a vehicle with two males inside
A search uncovered:

💸 A large amount of cash
📱 Multiple mobile phones
💊 Drugs found on one of the males

Both individuals were arrested on suspicion of PWITS (Possession With Intent to Supply) – this means having drugs not for personal use, but to sell or distribute to others.
🏠 But it didn’t stop there…
Officers carried out a Section 18 search at a linked address, where they located:

💊 More Class A drugs
💸 Further large amounts of cash
⚖️ Drug scales linked to dealing

🔥 An outstanding result for the team – disrupting drug activity and making our community safer! 🔥
👏 Huge credit to the officers involved for their proactive work and commitment to tackling drug crime in our area.
👀 Keep a look out for tomorrow’s post…
We’ll be out in force for our E-scooter enforcement day!

🚓 Tackling Street S*x Working 🚓

On Wednesday evening, officers from Normanton SNT, assisted by colleagues from the City Centre SNT, carried out Operation Virtus, which followers of our page will know by now, is our ongoing work to tackle street s*x working and related anti-social behaviour in the Grove Street area.

As we have detailed on our page before, street s*x working and the purchase of s*xual services in a public place is a criminal offence in the UK, known as soliciting for s*x.

The women that s*x work in public are rarely doing so through choice. They are vulnerable women who are often addicted to drugs and/or they are being forced into s*x work by another person.

Operation Virtus involves a number of tactics, including plain clothed and uniformed patrols to identify those purchasing s*xual services, working closely with partners to support vulnerable women, and attending women’s groups to discuss issues and concerns.

On Wednesday we carried out both plain clothed and uniformed patrols.

✅ Four men were identified to be attempting to solicit for s*x. All four have been interviewed and some form of legal proceeding will follow, whether that be a summons to court, or an out of court disposal.

✅ Several vehicles were seen to be loitering in the area in a manner that suggests they were “kerb crawling”. Some drivers were spoken to on the evening and offered suitable advice, and those not spoken to will be visited in the coming days.

✅ A number of women were suspected to loitering for the purpose of s*x working. All were spoken to and offered appropriate safeguarding advice on the evening. Further work with these women will continue with the help of our partner agencies to prevent them from seeing no other choice but to s*x work.

✅ Slightly off topic, but an illegal e-scooter was also seized from one of the alleged perpetrators. Personal use e-scooters in the UK are illegal to use in public as they cannot be insured and therefore can, and will, be seized by us under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.

Tackling street s*x working is one of our local priorities, as well as Violence Against Women and Girls being both a national and force priority. At Normanton SNT we are passionate about tackling this issue and will continue to do so!

If you have concerns or information relating to street s*x working or associated issues in Normanton, please report it:
