A great day yesterday showing adults from The Enabled Centre around our station and appliance. Some very keen and lovely people who we were delighted to host and show what we do and the equipment we use to do it!

Despite weeks of dry weather and wildfires all over the news, some people are still deciding to have burns. In this case it was insulation foam which is illegal and irresponsible, regardless of the wildfire risk. Crews extinguished the fire and gave advice.

Another shift on the Tintwhistle Moors completed today. Thankfully, the incident is heading towards a conclusion. 🙏🏼

‼️Please only call 999 if there is an emergency or a fire producing significant smoke. We have had a high volume of calls to our 999 control room since yesterday evening. We understand residents may be concerned, but we are unable to respond to reports of neighbours having BBQs, bonfires or campfires in their gardens unless there is an emergency.

We support the Government's message on this and would strongly advise against having bonfires, fireworks, campfires or disposable BBQs during this period. Fires can spread quickly and become difficult to control, putting your home and neighbouring properties at risk.

Tintwistle Moor Incident Update - Sunday 2 August 2026

Firefighters and partners continue to monitor the Tintwistle Moor fireground for any remaining hotspots following the significant progress made in recent days.

The emergency response has now been scaled back, with crews and specialist support remaining in place as required to check the affected area and reduce the risk of any re-ignition.

While this remains an active fireground, we hope to be able to bring more positive news in the next couple of days as monitoring and assessment work continues.

Help us prevent wildfires.
With warm weather continuing, and especially as we are now in the holiday season, we are again asking people to take extra care and help us prevent wildfires.

Please avoid using disposable barbecues or lighting campfires in the countryside, take all litter home, dispose of ci******es safely and call 999 immediately if you see smoke or fire.
