THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE VALE OF
CLWYD FOODBANK – RUTHIN DEPOT

The continuing impact of the Cost of Living Crisis is of
course increasingly affecting the entire community but is
inevitably impacting or threatening to impact some members
of our community more seriously than on others and in
different ways.

That impact is perhaps more keenly felt at times of
celebration such as Christmas and New Year and we at the
Foodbank have seen that affect this Christmas Period.
The Foodbank clearly has a role to play in endeavouring to
reduce that impact as much as is possible within our remit
and working in tandem with our Foodbank Voucher issuers.

As volunteers at the Foodbank we are frequently
overwhelmed by the generosity of our local community in
the amount of donations of food, other items and from the
cash donations we receive and 2022 and this last Christmas
period have been no exception.

We would like to take this opportunity to again fully
recognise and to say a big thank you to all the members of
our community who have continued to support the running of
the foodbank, for without that support we would not be
able to continue and could not then help those members of
the community who for whatever reason find themselves or
their families facing difficult times. Thank You.

anochel yn effeithio neu& #39;n bygwth effeithio ar rai aelodau

Efallai bod yr effaith honno i’w theimlo’n fwy brwd
ar adegau o ddathlu fel y Nadolig a’r Flwyddyn Newydd
ac rydym ni yn y Banc Bwyd wedi gweld hynny’n

Mae gan y Banc Bwyd ran i'w chwarae wrth geisio

Fel gwirfoddolwyr rydym yn aml wedi ein syfrdanu gan
haelioni ein cymuned leol - yn y swm o roddion bwyd,
eitemau eraill ac o’r rhoddion a***nnol a dderbyniwn ac
nid yw 2022 a chyfnod y Nadolig wedi bod yn eithriad.

Hoffem achub ar y cyfle hwn i gydnabod eto a
dweud diolch yn fawr i holl aelodau’n cymuned sydd
wedi parhau i gefnogi ‘r banc bwyd, heb y cymorth
hwnnw ni fyddem yn gallu parhau i helpu& #39;r aelodau o'r
gymuned sydd am ba reswm bynnag yn cael eu hunain
neu eu teuluoedd yn wynebu cyfnod anodd. Diolch.

Ruthin Branch

Our team of volunteers have been very busy these past couple of weeks. They've created and distributed 259 Christmas bags to people in need throughout our communities. This involves several weeks of careful planning beforehand.

This has only been possible thanks to continued donations from members of our community.

The Ruthin Branch will be back open next Thursday.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.

08/02/2022

You MAY be entitled to an additional payment under the Winter Fuel Support Scheme.

Please note the closing date of 28 February 2022.

On the 1st of February 2022 the Minister for Social Justice extended support to households by doubling the Winter Fuel Support Scheme, increasing the payment from £100 to £200. This will be available to new applicants and retrospectively paid to those who have applied already.

From the 13 December 2021 to 28 February 2022, eligible people in Wales may be able to claim a one-off £200 payment from their local Council to provide support towards paying their winter fuel bills.

About the fund
Eligible households can claim a one-off £200 payment from their local council to provide support towards paying their on-grid winter fuel bills. The payment will be available to all eligible households regardless of how they pay for their on-grid fuel, whether that is, for example, on a pre-payment meter, by direct debit or by paying a bill quarterly.

The scheme is open to households where one member is in receipt of certain welfare benefits. An applicant meets this condition if they (or their partner) are in receipt of one of the qualifying working-age means tested benefits at any time during the qualifying period 1 December 2021 to 31 January 2022.
These qualifying benefits are:
· Income Support, or

· Income-Based Job Seekers Allowance, or

· Income-Related Employment & Support Allowance, or

· Universal Credit, or

· Working Tax Credits

Applicants must also be responsible for paying the energy bills for the property.

An applicant meets this condition if they (or their partner) are responsible for paying on-grid fuel bills to their energy provider for a property in Wales and this property is considered their primary residence. This condition is satisfied regardless of whether on-grid fuel is paid for through a pre-payment meter, by direct debit or via quarterly bill. This condition is not satisfied if an applicant (or their partner) pays for their fuel off-grid.
Anyone who requires financial assistance with off-grid fuel costs (such as oil, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) or coal) can consider applying to the Discretionary Assistance Fund for help.
Local councils will be contacting households to invite applications where they can identify potential eligibility for the winter fuel payment. However, anyone who believes they are eligible for the payment can submit a claim via their local council’s website from 13 December 2021. All applications must be received before the closing date of the scheme on 28 February 2022. Payments for successful applications will be made from January through to end of April 2022.

The Department for Work and Pensions and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs have confirmed that this payment will not affect an individual’s current benefits or be subject to tax.

Hoffem ddiolch i’r Gymuned gyfan am y gefnogaeth rydym
wedi ei dderbyn yn ystod y flwyddyn anodd a aeth heibio, ac
wrth nesau am y Nadolig.
Mae eich caredigrwydd drwy gyfraniadau o fwyd ac a***n
gan unigolion, teuluoedd, grwpiau cymunedol a sefydliadau,
busnesau, eglwysi ac ysgolion wedi bod yn ffantastig, ac mae
hyn i gyd wedi ein galluogi i baratoi dros 145 o Fagiau

Diolch unwaith eto, dymunwn i chi Nadolig Llawen a

We would like to thank our community for the generous
support we have received during this difficult year and in
the run up to Christmas. That generosity in donations of
food and money from individual people, families, community
groups and organisations, businesses, churches and schools
has been fantastic and for example has enabled us to
prepare and distribute over 145 Christmas Hamper Bags
this Christmas.
Thank you again and may we wish you all a Merry Christmas
and should we say a better New Year in 2022, do keep safe.

When you go to Morrisons in Denbigh look out for the “giving tree”. This year all donations will go to support the Vale of Clwyd Food Bank.
Take a bauble off the tree and pay for it at the till after doing your shopping. That donation will then go to the food bank and we can use it to buy more food!
Thank you Dawn the lovely Community Champion for arranging all of this.

Food Donations.

Our Foodbank could not operate without the continued fantastic support and generosity that we receive from our local community. That support manifests itself in so many ways and particularly from Food and Cash Donations and we are extremely grateful for that support.

Almost all the food we distribute is donated by our community at the respective collection points in local supermarkets and from deliveries directly to our foodbank depots in Ruthin and Denbigh, from a variety of sources, including local churches, community groups, doctor’s surgeries, schools, businesses and workplaces and from individual donations.

The collection boxes at TESCO are intended only for food that has been purchased by in-store shoppers only. Should you wish to donate items not purchased in the store in these boxes we ask that the donations be sealed and labelled as having been purchased elsewhere.

Thank you again for your continued vital support.
