Job Opportunity - Trainee Fire Protection System Designer – Oldham, Greater Manchester Area

With over 20 years of experience, Aspect Fire Solutions Limited specialist in designing, installing and maintaining fire protection and suppression systems.

Are you seeking to kick start your career in Fire Protection System Design?

This role is ideal for someone eager to learn, develop new skills and gain hands on experience in Fire Protection. This is a perfect entry level role for a recent Engineering Graduate, although all applicants will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Using AutoCAD to produce site drawings throughout the stages of a project installation.
• Attending customer sites at the start of a project to assess the site and work with the project manager to create a design/drawing pack.
• Working with the customer to ensure the design is in line with their requirements and relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
• Liaising with engineers and subcontractors during the project to keep drawings up to date and make changes in line with the installation works
• Working closely with the project manager to ensure that revisions are kept up to date and reflect the stage of the project
• Finalising the As Fitted drawings at the end of commissioning so that the O&M Manual can be created
• Creating other designs as requested such as zone plans, kit drawings
• Completion of hydraulic calculations
• Completion of batter and loop calculations
• Completion of air sampling calculations
• Completion of design certification on behalf of BAFE authorised signatories
• Assisting Project Manager and Operations Manager as may be required

Person Specification

• Personality – Energy, Drive, Enthusiasm.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Professional.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good knowledge of Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Requirements.
• Must be able to perform well as an individual as well as part of a team.
• Fire Protection technical accreditation knowledge an advantage.
• Engineering based Degree preferred.

Due to a high demand of enquiries, we are currently looking to employ a new Design/Estimator join the Sales Team and work within the Aspect Fire and Curran Fire and Electrical Services Businesses.

Design and Estimating experience would be preferred but it may also be a suitable position for an engineer looking to transition into an office role, who has experience in several of the below disciplines.

The Role

Attending customer sites to carry out the Testing and maintenance of the Alarm Systems and Gas Suppression Systems in line with Aspect Fire policies and Procedures and in line with industry wide regulations and standards.

Interpreting client specifications in the design of a system.

Wiring, Terminating and testing of field circuits.

Fault finding where needed using sound electrical principles.

Witness testing with our clients and/or building control for verification of system functionality.

Producing and issuing of test certifications and proof of conformity, as well as fitted diagrams for client operation.

Experience

You will already have an excellent working knowledge of fire alarms and be able to demonstrate this. Some experience of Fire Suppression systems and Room Integrity testing would be desirable, although not essential as full training and support will be provided.

You will be able to support your application with industry recognised qualifications and a proven track record within the fire alarm/ Fire Suppression Industry.

Package

The position carries a basic Salary of £40k- 45k Dependent upon experience. Plus door to door travelling, Overtime, Bonus Scheme, Call out allowance. Company vehicle, fuel Card, Mobile Phone, lap top. Pension Etc.
