Exciting progress is being made on our new Garden for Reflection and Remembrance.

Designed as a tranquil space where people can remember loved ones while enjoying nature, the garden is beginning to take shape. Recent works have included the creation of a natural wildlife pond, new pathways and raised planter beds.

Over the coming weeks, flowers, shrubs, pond plants and new turf will be added to complete the transformation and create a beautiful environment that can be enjoyed throughout the seasons. New benches will also be installed, providing peaceful places to sit, reflect and connect with nature.

The garden will also feature memorial plaque opportunities on the wooden pillar and raised beds, in line with the Council's Memorials Policy, allowing families and friends to create a lasting tribute in this peaceful setting.

We look forward to sharing further updates as the garden develops. 🦋🌼

⚠️ Blue-Green Algae Alert ⚠️

Blue-green algae has been identified in the reservoir at Daventry Country Park.

Please avoid entering the water and keep children and dogs away from the reservoir. Blue-green algae can cause illness in people and serious harm to dogs if contaminated water is swallowed (directly or through licking their fur after a swim).

🌞We know it’s tempting🌞
The weather’s hot, the water looks calm, and a quick paddle or swim can feel harmless…
But it only takes seconds.

Reservoirs might look safe, but they’re not designed for swimming or paddling - even at the edge.
🚫 Deep mud can trap feet and make it impossible to move
❄️ Cold water can cause shock instantly, even on the hottest days
📉 Sudden drop-offs mean it gets deep, fast
🚫 No lifeguards if something goes wrong
💔 Every year in the UK, families lose loved ones in preventable water incidents, many in inland waters like lakes and reservoirs.

✅ Please keep safe:
• No swimming or paddling in reservoirs or lakes
• Keep well back from the edge
• Hold childrens hands near water and supervise closely
• Stick to paths and designated safe areas

When it’s hot, it’s even more important to remember: the safest choice is to stay out of the water.

💙 This let’s make sure every family goes home safely.

As we support the Royal Life Saving Society’s , we’re reminding everyone to stay out of open water in our parks.

It might look calm and inviting, but hidden dangers can turn a quick dip into a life-threatening situation:
❄️ Cold water shock can cause your body to gasp uncontrollably
⚠️ Hidden hazards like debris, sharp objects, or sudden drops
🌊 Strong currents or weeds that can trap even strong swimmers
🚫 No lifeguards – help isn’t always immediately available

We know it can be tempting on a warm day, but entering the water is never worth the risk.
Stay safe by:
✅Keeping to paths and designated areas
✅Enjoying water views without entering
✅Looking out for friends and encouraging safe choices
✅Stick to supervised, organised activities
Let’s work together to ensure everyone can enjoy our green spaces safely this summer.
