Have you noticed our new park signs yet? 👀🌳

You’ll now find brand new maps at the entrances to both the Main Park and the Top Park. Our old signs were looking a little tired, so these fresh new ones will help visitors, both new and returning, find their way around the parks more easily.

The Friends of Bold Venture Park are continuing to work hard to improve our beloved park for everyone in the community to enjoy 💚

A huge thank you to Darwen Town Council for providing grant funding, and to our Bold Venture Friend Sally Dillon for personally designing the maps and arranging their installation 🙌

And while you’re there… have you completed the Huntington Heritage Trail yet? 🥾🗺️

🌟 WONDERFUL NEWS FOR BOLD VENTURE PARK 🌟

Hi everyone! I am absolutely delighted to share some fantastic news with you all.

We have been working closely with the council to secure funding for the Park from the Destination Darwen fund, and I can now confirm that we have secured a substantial amount of investment! The board has been incredibly supportive of the action plan and the priorities we submitted in our bid.

We will share more specific details as the project progresses, but you can look forward to seeing substantial works in the park, including:

🌱Extensive path improvements and pond desilting
🌱New woodland play features
🌱New bins and seating areas
🌱Fresh planting
🌱Restoration works and more…..

I am also very happy to share that, after much lobbying by our group, the funding includes CCTV to help deter antisocial behavior near the playground.

💚 Friends of Bold Venture Park – Thank You Darwen 💚

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to our recent community survey and to all the residents who have contacted us, shared concerns, and offered support. Your voices truly matter to us, and they directly shape the work we do as a volunteer group.

We would also like to express our ongoing gratitude to Darwen Police and Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service for their continued support, professionalism and commitment to keeping our community safe. We recognise the significant demands placed on emergency services and appreciate their dedication in responding to repeated incidents in the park.

Following a constructive meeting with our local MP, Andy MacNae, and thanks to many residents who independently highlighted the opportunity to us, we identified the Pride in Place Darwen Community Fund as a potential route to address long-standing anti-social behaviour issues. We’re pleased to share that our initial bid has now been submitted.

The proposal is for a state-of-the-art, discreet CCTV system designed to protect Bold Venture Park for the next decade, safeguard recent community investment, and help ensure emergency services can focus their time and resources where they are most urgently needed.

Friends of Bold Venture Park is a small but committed and professional volunteer group. We listen carefully to our community, work collaboratively with partners, and remain resilient and determined in the face of challenges. This park belongs to everyone, and we believe the strength of Darwen lies in standing together.
