⚽🌍 World Cup fever has arrived at our child and adolescent mental health service at Lake House in Scarborough.

Young people and staff are getting into the spirit of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, bringing colour, creativity and excitement into their space.

Aimee and Lisa, two of our community support workers have transformed Lake House into a more welcoming and engaging environment for everyone who visits.

💬 “It’s been great working together to bring some World Cup excitement to Lake House while thinking about ways to engage our patients and support positive wellbeing in our staff,” said Aimee.

“We’re looking forward to getting our young people involved in:

⚽ Football-themed activities
🎨 Creative projects inspired by the World Cup
👥 Opportunities to connect, compete and have fun together.”

Getting involved in shared activities like this can make a real difference, bringing people together, encouraging conversations, and creating moments of laughter and connection.

These moments help young people feel more comfortable and supported, which plays an important role in their recovery journey. 💚

Did you see? 👀🤩 A team of perinatal mental health clinicians took on the Great Knaresborough Bed Race this time last week. And they raised over £1,000 for Maternal Mental Health Alliance! 👏

Not ones to do things half-heartedly, the team donned fancy dress in line with the 'Swinging Sixties' theme.

They also spoke with lots of people on the day about our service and raised lots of awareness for perinatal mental health.

Yes, team! 👊

Celebrating Our Armed Forces Community 💜

This Armed Forces Day, we’re recognising and celebrating the incredible contribution of serving personnel, veterans and their families.

We’re encouraging everyone to show their support by attending one of the many Armed Forces Day events taking place across our region. From military displays and live entertainment to community activities and opportunities to learn more about support available for the armed forces community, there’s something for everyone.

Celebrations begin in the week running up to Saturday 27 June, with the Armed Forces Day flag being raised across the UK at buildings and landmarks.

The date commemorates the awarding of the first Victoria Cross in London in 1857, honouring exceptional acts of bravery.

📅On Saturday 27 June (from 2pm onwards), The Last Post Memorial Bar Museum in Thornaby will be hosting an event. There will be something for everyone, including military vehicles, charity and military organisation stalls, historical re-enactments, a barbecue, live music from wartime singer Sam Lyons, and an opportunity to dress in your best 1940s-inspired outfit

It's a family-friendly event and a great opportunity to meet colleagues, learn more about our services and explore career opportunities within the trust.

📍 Other local events include:
• Scarborough – Foreshore Road (Saturday 27 June from 11am–5pm)
• Redcar and Cleveland – High Street (Saturday 27 June from 10.30am–4pm)
• Stockton – High Street (Saturday 20 June from 10am–4pm)
• East Durham – Glebe Centre, Murton (Saturday 27 June from 11.30am–11pm)

Thank you to all members of the armed forces community for your service, dedication and sacrifice.

Three lions on a shirt… and four paws on the floor! 🐾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

🐶 One of our much-loved therapy dogs, Daisy, has been out and about visiting wards at Roseberry Park in Middlesbrough and spreading some Three Lions luck and spirit.

Wearing her unique, handmade England outfit made by her owner and trust volunteer Sophie, Daisy is spreading smiles, easing anxieties and supporting the wellbeing of our patients and staff. ❤️

Visits like these bring joy, comfort and help to lift spirits, and Daisy will be ready in her England outfit again when the next match kicks off! 🐶⚽️

Sometimes the best kind of support comes with a wagging tail, and we’d like to think our four-legged mascot will bring a little extra luck to the England football team too! 🍀🏆
