This afternoon my consort and myself visited Cockerton Community Dog Show.
It was amazing to present the awards to three adorable dogs in the fabulous fella category.
Congratulations to Blue for receiving the first prize and also the very cute runners up.
We were in our element chatting to the community and getting cuddles from the pooches.
A wonderful well attended event as the rain certainly did not stop play.

It was a pleasure to attend the Hummersknot Badminton Club annual evening along with my Dad as my consort.
The evening was filled with a celebration of achievements, wonderful stories from Philip Boyle, team manager and members of the team relating to International tournaments and tours.
Philip is an inspiration to the team and through Philip's support and management the team are an inspiration to others.
It was lovely to chat with all involved following the event.

It was an honour accompanied by my consort to raise the Red Ensign on Thursday 3rd September to mark Merchant Navy Day.
The ceremony heard from Darlington Borough Council's Armed Forces Champion, Councillor Jan Cossins, Captain Russell Carnelley, representing the Merchant Navy and my Chaplain Reverend Dr John Elliston.
The annual flag raising ceremony recognises the indispensable role of merchant seafarers past, present and future and this day gives opportunity to pause, remember their contribution and show our appreciation for the seafarers and their families.

Today it was my pleasure to attend the launch of the Health Squad a new service commissioned by Darlington Borough Council and delivered by County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
The service is taking healthcare into the heart of local communities, ensuring vulnerable residents with complex needs do not fall through the gaps.
Since June 2026 the Health Squad have already supported over 40 individuals.

It was both a privilege and a pleasure to welcome everyone at today's first 'Recovery Festival' in our wonderful town.
The festival was a vibrant celebration of recovery from addiction, building community and promoting support.
Bringing together local residents, partner organisations and people with lived experience, this highlighted the positive impact of recovery and the many pathways that lead to it.
It was an honour to sign the inclusive Recovery Cities Charter alongside inspiring speakers.
The festival was hosted by Recovery Connections, part of the STRIDE partnership and I would like to extend my own personal thanks to all those involved in getting us to the point we are at today.

Yesterday it was an honour for my consort Tom Nutt and myself to be part of another wonderful citizenship ceremony.
It was our privilege to welcome 16 new British citizens and their guests along with Deputy Lieutenant Pam Royle, Hgh Sheriff
Arnab Basu and Leader of the council Steve Harker.
We are so pleased that our new citizens have chosen Darlington and it's surrounding areas as their hometowns.

It was my pleasure yesterday to open The Garden Room, a beautiful cafe serving a variety of delicious refreshments.
Having known the proprietor for many years I always knew they would accomplish something very special.
I would highly recommend a visit to this welcoming, friendly cafe and a cuppa with cake is a must.
Also pooches can enjoy a puppicino in the outdoor area.
