Over the weekend there has been a number of deaths due to drowning in open water. Always remember safety starts by keeping yourself safe.

Never enter the water to help a person/animal struggling in the water
Phone 999
Tell the person to float on their back with ears under water
Throw rescue equipment such as a life ring to help them float

Give constant reassurance and encourage them to use their hands to stay afloat whilst staying on their back.

On Tuesday, the children were learning all about Bastille Day and the French Revolution. Each class carried out their own research, exploring why Bastille Day is celebrated, how it is commemorated across France, and the historical events that led to this important national celebration.
Our EYFS and KS1 children enjoyed sampling some delicious French delicacies and were treated to a selection of French desserts at lunchtime, giving them a real taste of French culture.
Meanwhile, KS2 delved deeper into the history of the French Revolution, developing their understanding of the social and political events that led to the storming of the Bastille and its lasting significance.
It has been a fantastic day of learning, bringing French history and culture to life across the school!

Great British Summer Savings

Rising prices can make life's little treats harder to afford, especially during the school holidays when costs build up for families. This Government is determined to help, and that is why last month the Chancellor announced the Great British Summer Savings scheme.

From 25 June to 1 September 2026, the Government is temporarily cutting VAT from 20% to 5% on children's meals in restaurants, children and family tickets to cinemas, theatres, concerts and exhibitions, and admission to a wide range of attractions. Combined with free bus travel during August for children aged 5 to 15 in England, families and young people will be able to enjoy experiences that make summer special, including visits to the kinds of cultural and educational attractions that enrich children's lives outside the classroom.

The public are ready to get behind the scheme and are keen to take advantage of the discounts available. As trusted pillars of their communities, schools play a vital role in connecting families with important information.

We need you to help spread the word. So please share details of the Great British Summer Savings scheme through your newsletters, school apps, and other communications to parents and carers, so that the families in your school community know about the experiences they can enjoy this summer for less.

This forms part of a broader effort by the Government to ease financial pressures on families. From ending the two-child limit and expanding free school meals, to rolling out free breakfast clubs and delivering 30 hours of free childcare, this Government is taking action to put more money back into parents’ pockets and give every child the best possible start in life.

This week, Reception have looked at some famous Australian landmarks. Some are made by humans and some are natural. There is a huge rock formation in Australia called the 'Ayers Rock or Uluru'. After learning some interesting facts about it, the children were challenged to make this in Forest Friday.
They did this as a team so that it could be large scale and it was good hearing the children using their mathematical language to discuss the height and comparing heights.
One of the facts they learnt was that artwork is on the rocks from a very long time ago. The children drew their own artwork to stick on the Uluru they had built. After that they made a dingo and a kangaroo that live in areas around the Uluru.

The children in Meadows, have been investigating, how a plant grows and what they need.
A few weeks ago they planted sun flower seeds and every week they have watched them grow taller and taller. They have made sure the seeds have had light, warmth and water and watched them grow a stem and then leaves. They took it in turns to water the plants each week.
We cant wait to see the flower buds grow! 🌻

Year 2 had a great time in South park. They looked at the Victorian features such as the bandstand, where they danced and they spotted the bowling green. They have seen the animals as well as played in the park and fed the ducks. They have enjoyed their picnic in the rose garden and then came back to school to have ice lollies. What a great day😄
