Volunteers Needed!

The Friends of Dalton Castle Society would like to invite people to join them, as volunteers, to help look after and open the castle to the public. Due to the current situation, we have decided that we will not open until March 2022, however, we have a lot of jobs which we need help with prior to opening eg moving displays, tidying, sorting etc

Membership of the Society is £2.00 per annum and we have monthly meetings at the castle.

We ask that volunteers agree to help as a room guide for a minimum of 2 Saturday afternoons during the season. We like to have a minimum of 3 volunteers on site.

You do not need to have any qualifications just a desire to help visitors enjoy their experience of the castle their way.

We hope to have a Volunteer Open Day in early March 2022 but if you feel you would like to join us sooner then please send a message and one of us will get back to you.

Thank you
Friends of Dalton Castle

Hello Facebook Friends of Dalton Castle

The Society held it's first zoom meeting last night which went very well. We are all itching to get back into the swing of having our wonderful castle available to view.

It's doors have been closed for far too long, however, we still have some weeks, perhaps months before we can open our doors on a Saturday.

We will continue to be guided by the National Trust as to how and when we can receive visitors but hopefully we will perhaps be able to take some bookings later in the summer.

We will keep you updated via this site and hope that all Friends of Dalton Castle stay well and are looking forward to better days.

Thank you for your continued support.

Dear Friends
Due to the pandemic we have been unable to safely open the castle and, as the castle is owned by the National Trust, we have followed their guidance during this time. Our season for opening the castle would have ended September and so we will look forward to planning for when we are allowed to open the doors, hopefully next season.

The Castle has survived since the mid 14th Century, attacks from the North, plagues and the reformation, so we are not too worried about it. As soon as the Volunteers are able to, we will be meeting and planning events and we look forward to welcoming you all in the future. Don't forget if you are interested in history and can spare some time on a Saturday, during our open season, then we would love to have you as a member of the Friends Society, At £2.00 annual membership it is great value! When we are back up and running we will have a ''New Volunteer Open Day'' so keep an eye out for details appearing on fb next year.

In the meantime please stay safe and well and thank you for your support during this time.

Denman at Home is delighted to present: Simon's talk on Munich and Nuremberg - Friday 5 June at 11am

In this one-hour talk, Simon will explore the history of these two Bavarian cities as they looked during the rise and rule of the N**i party, from 1918 until the mid-1940s. Illustrated with photos, this will include the N**i rise to power, the monolithic rally grounds at Nuremberg, and the war crimes trials after the end of the Second World War.
