πŸπŸ’œ A Big Thank You to Family Hubs! πŸ’œπŸ

We would like to say a huge thank you to the children and families from Family Hubs in Barrow-in-Furness for decorating these wonderful bees for our bee area.

The colourful bees have added a real touch of creativity and fun to the display, which is currently bursting with lavender and other bee-friendly plants. 🌿🌸

Take a look next time you're passing by and see how many decorated bees you can spot hiding amongst the flowers! πŸ‘€πŸ

How many can you find? Let us know in the comments!

Thank you again to everyone involved for helping to brighten up this lovely community feature. πŸ’›

🌸🌼 Cumbria in Bloom 2026 🌼🌸

Judging day is fast approaching on 9th July, and we're getting ready to showcase just how beautiful our little town is!

Do you have a garden, hanging basket, planter, allotment, or favourite floral display that you're proud of? We'd love to feature photos from residents in our Cumbria in Bloom portfolio. πŸ“ΈπŸŒΊ

We're also looking for blooming streets, community gardens, and colourful corners of Dalton that could be included on the judging route. If you think your street deserves recognition, please let us know!

There is still time to get involved. The Cumbria in Bloom Committee will be meeting at Dalton Town Hall on Monday 15th June at 7.00pm, and anyone interested is very welcome to come along and join us.

Please send any photographs or suggestions to the Assistant Clerk at:

Let's work together to show the judges what makes Dalton such a wonderful place to live. 🌷🌻🌹

Exciting things are happening in our newly renamed Reading Garden! πŸ“š

This Thursday, we will be installing our brand-new outdoor library box, which will be filled with preloved books for everyone in the community to enjoy, borrow, swap and share. We hope this space will encourage a love of reading for all ages and tie in with national reading initiatives throughout the year.

To help bring the garden to life, we have a collection of β€œbook bricks” along the wall to celebrate stories and imagination β€” and now we’d love for the community to get involved too!

We’re inviting residents to help add to the Reading Garden by painting their favourite book-themed brick or to create painted insect pebbles to place around the garden.

This is a space for everyone, and we’d love to see it grow into a colourful, creative, and welcoming area the whole community can be proud of.

If you’d like to contribute, simply paint your brick or pebble and place it in the garden for others to enjoy!

A huge thank you to everyone supporting this project β€” we can’t wait to see the Reading Garden continue to grow. πŸŒΏπŸ“š

🀝 FRIENDSHIP BENCH INSTALLED IN THORNTON PARK AREA 🀝

We're delighted to share that a new Friendship Bench has been installed at the corner of Thornton Park, Eskdale Drive and Dalton Fields Lane.

The bench has been generously donated by Westmorland and Furness Council's Tenants' Forum and provides a welcoming place for residents to sit, chat, take a moment to pause, or simply enjoy the surroundings.

A special thank you goes to Dalton Town Cllr David Pearson, who represents the Thornton Park area on the Tenants' Forum and helped bring this project to Dalton.

This is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when local organisations and community representatives work together to improve our public spaces and support community wellbeing.

We hope residents and visitors alike will enjoy this new addition for many years to come.
