Oh what fun we've had during Bookbug Week! 🥰

This year's theme is Bookbug's Big Quest, and some of our little explorers even dressed up for the Bookbug sessions, don't they look amazing? (And yes, some of our bigger explorers dressed up too; slightly older but definitely no wiser! 🤦🏻‍♀️😁)

We had adventure-themed songs, stories and rhymes at our regular Bookbug sessions before our wee explorers set off on their own big quest to search for Explorer Bookbug, who had cunningly hidden himself around the children's library. After counting the Bookbugs, the children posted their entry forms into our special (and rather fabulous!) postbox, and we're all keeping our fingers crossed that they will be one of the lucky winners of a mini Bookbug toy and a book bundle 🤞🤞

After all the hilarity and fun, our little explorers headed off for home with a few Bookbug Week gifts from the Big Yellow Bug himself (and the big explorers went to lie down in a darkened room to recover 😂)

If you haven't been in to see us this week, there's still time to join in the fun. Pop in to any Library before 24th May to take part in our Find Explorer Bookbug Quest and be in with a chance of winning a mini Bookbug doll and a book bundle, or just play along for fun! Prizes suitable for ages 0-5

Hope to see you soon!

It's Bookbug Week, time to celebrate! 🥰

This year's theme is Bookbug's Big Quest, and we've been planning some adventures for you in the library between 18th -24th May.

We'll of course be hosting our regular Bookbug sessions on Wednesday & Friday (and who knows, there may be a little Explorer theme going on there... 😎)

However, in addition to this, we're inviting all our little Bookbug explorers aged 0-5 (and their designated adults 😁) to go on their very own Quest! Bookbug has hidden pictures of himself in his Explorer Bookbug outfit all around the Junior Library; how many can you spot?
Ask at the desk for an entry form, write down the number then pop your entry into our super-fabulous postbox to be in with a chance of winning a mini Bookbug doll and a book bundle!

And of course, you all know how we love a freebie here in Dalgety Bay Towers, so there may also be the odd giveaway or two for any of our wee friends who pop by to see us during Bookbug Week 😎😎😎

See you all soon!

**Local History Talk – Rosyth Library – Tuesday 19th May **

Join historian, Roger Pickering, co-founder of Forth Pilgrim/Defend Fife, for an inspiring account of ORP Orzel’s daring escape from Tallinn, epic Baltic journey, through the Danish Straits over the North Sea to be finally escorted into Rosyth by the Royal Navy destroyer, HMS Valorous, as she arrived in 1939. After, losing radio contact, the submarine was declared missing in the North Sea on 8th June 1940. Her loss is still unexplained and despite efforts, the wreck has yet to be found. Roger will share how this story of Polish heroism during World War II has inspired the creation of the ORP Orzeł Memorial Garden, currently under construction in Rosyth to commemorate the crew who lost their lives. Tickets £3.00. Book here 👇

We have (two!) winners!!! ⭐️⭐️

Congratulations to Lexie and Marius, the winners of our recent Easter colouring competition, didn't they do an amazing job?

Our independent judges had a really difficult task choosing just two winners because they were ALL amazing (we're really pleased that we didn't have to judge them ourselves or we'd STILL be deliberating and none of you would be getting your books stamped! 😆)

Well done to everyone who took part, you certainly brightened up our Easter with all your fab pictures! 🥰

We were honoured to have been asked once again to make up part of the judging team for the Gala's Royal Party and Poster competitions, many thanks to Dalgety Bay and Hillend Gala for inviting us and for all your hard work organising the Gala.
As always, it was a hugely difficult decision because ALL of the entries were SO GOOD! You should all be very proud of yourselves 🥰
Congratulations to the winners; the lovely Gala committee always go to great lengths to ensure that all of the entries are completely anonymous, so although we helped choose the winners, we still don't know who you are! We look forward to further announcements so we can match faces to the entries!

The 2026 Royal Party, and the winning poster, have been chosen! Announcements will be made at the Primary Schools soon.

We would like to thank HUGOS Bar & Pavilion for offering us the pavilion to hold our judging for these competitions.

We would also like to thank our 2026 team of judges:

Susan Thompson and Irene Mckinnon from Dalgety Bay Library
Caela MacDonald from Hugos
Amanda McLuckie from 48th Fife Scouts
Jill and Katy Miller from Dalgety Bay Day Centre
Amanda Logan from Dalgety Bay Guiding
Karyn Rennie from Donibristle Primary School
