❗A prolific offender broke into two commercial premises in Newport city centre and attempted to force entry to another.
ℹ️ Arnis Nassa, 46, was convicted of two counts of burglary and an attempted burglary with intent to steal, all at Friars Walk in Newport on Friday 24 July.
ℹ️ Appearing at Newport Magistrates’ Court on Friday 11 September, Nassa, of no fixed address, admitted to multiple counts of fraud by false representation, theft from a motor vehicle, and vehicle interference.
📍Nassa was sentenced to more than 14 months imprisonment (64 weeks in total) for these offences, which he committed while on bail.
📍This sentence will run consecutively to a three-year jail term imposed at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday 8 September when Nassa pleaded guilty to burglary, theft and fraud offences from May.
Inspector Martyn Pugh, from the neighbourhood policing team in Newport, said:
💬“It’s disappointing that this defendant committed his latest offences while on court bail.
“Nassa was arrested by officers from our Community Action Team and we know this outcome will be welcomed by businesses and retailers in the city centre and other residents of Newport impacted by his prolific offending.
“We’ve targeted repeat offenders, like Nassa, during Operation Krypton and made more than 241 arrests.
“Nassa is the fourth suspect sentenced to imprisonment after being arrested and charged as part of Op Krypton, while we've detected 18 reported commercial burglaries in the city since July."💬
