DEVELOPER'S APPEAL DISMISSED - HOUSES AT DULLATUR ROAD/KING'S DRIVE

I am pleased to have just been notified by the Scottish Government's Planning Directorate this afternoon that the developer's appeal against the decision by North Lanarkshire Council to refuse planning permission for five houses on the land at Dullatur Road and King's Drive has now been dismissed.

This means that the Scottish Government's Reporter has agreed with the decision to refuse planning permission for this area of land. This is for much the same reasons as before - in that the development would have an unacceptable impact on the Green Network/Green Belt.

Forest Road closure - 17th June to 1st July

A road closure will be in place for Forest Road, between the petrol station and Blackthorn Roundabout, from Wednesday 17th June until Wednesday 1st July. The road will close in two phases and only in one direction at a time, and this should alleviate some of the previous concerns about traffic volumes and road safety.

This closure is to allow a puffin pedestrian crossing to be installed for the new housing development, near to where the underpass has been sealed. Another pedestrian crossing will be installed further south on Forest Road at a later date, along with a new roundabout.

Road policing officers are appealing for information following a crash on the M80 northbound near to junction 3 at Stepps.

Around 8pm on Friday, 22 May, officers were called to a report of a crash involving a grey Ford Transit van and a silver Volkswagen EOS car.

A black Vauxhall Insignia is also believed to have been in the area around the time of the crash.

The driver of the Transit van, a 36-year-old man, and the driver of the EOS, a 24-year-old man, were taken to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

The northbound carriageway was closed following the crash and reopened around 10.45pm.

Constable Gordon McCreadie said: "Our enquiries into the circumstances surrounding this crash are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened, or saw the vehicles involved prior to the incident, to get in touch.

"I would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage from the area around the time of the crash to contact us as it may assist our investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3288 of 22 May, 2026.
