Cullompton Pre-School

Cullompton Pre-School Cullompton Pre-school is a friendly, "outstanding" pre-school offering affordable, flexible childcare for children aged 2 to 5 years with a Forest School.

On the 29th April 2011 we became the proud owners of a fantastic purpose built fully accessible building. We now have three large indoor play rooms, two cloakrooms, a parent room, office, staff room and fully fitted kitchen, laundry and toilet facilities. Outside are two large gardens, our back garden has a new willow dome structure, our Forest School area and we have plans to include a pond and w

ilderness garden. Our front garden is our largest outdoor space which incorporates an undercover play area, extensive paving for bikes, push along toys and water play. Our grass area is excellent for free play and use of our climbing frame and swings.. We have developed this area further by adding a vegetable garden, muddy play area, a secret garden, sensory plants and large accessible musical instruments.

This is the latest update from Devon Early Years and Childcare Services, if we hear anymore we will keep you updated.

With temperatures rising during the summer months, and with periods of extreme heat, it is important that schools and childcare settings are prepared to manage the impact of high heat on pupils, staff, and learning environments.

Prolonged periods of hot weather can affect health, concentration, and overall wellbeing, making it essential for schools and settings to take appropriate proactive steps to keep school communities safe and comfortable.

You should ensure that, if you have ventilation via air handling systems in the school, they have been maintained and that you understand their usage.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued some guidance to support schools and settings in planning for and responding effectively to high summer temperatures.

This guidance on looking after children during hot weather is specific to teachers and educational professionals, link below. It includes links to other useful information.

👉 https://www.gov.uk/guidance/looking-after-children-and-those-in-early-years-settings-before-and-during-hot-weather-teachers-and-other-educational-professionals

At this time of year many schools and settings are organising sports days or other outdoor events and consideration should be made to postponing these at times of extreme high temperatures.

We're having a great week despite the rain showers! Our caterpillars have arrived and are growing quickly, we have been making Hungry Caterpillars and have had a caterpillar sensory tray. Outside we have a coffee shop with "Deliveroo" bikes - lots of food orders being taken, prepared and despatched on the bikes! 🐛☕️🚲

We are very excited to announce that Sarah Turner will be taking over from Mandy as she retires as Admin Manager from September 2026!

The team are all very happy that they will have someone they know well taking over such an important role. Sarah has worked alongside Mandy for 18 months having previously been our House Keeper for 8 years.

We will be advertising Sarah's Admin Assistant role soon.

But, we also have some sad news. Andrea, our Deputy and SENCO will be leaving us at the end of term. Andrea has been with us for just over 11 years. She also has the role of SENCO and has done an incredible job of supporting all our children with additional needs. Alongside this she has been the Deputy Pre School leader supporting Amelia and now supporting me. She has really helped me since I started my new role and we will miss her a lot!

We have worked hard to replace Andrea and again we are pleased to say that we have done this internally to help with continuity. Michelle will be starting as Deputy from September 2026!

Thank you, Louise
