300 Isle of Axholme Squadron

Last night 300 (Isle of Axholme) Squadron welcomed Squadron Leader Mason to be part of our Enrolment and Passing Out Parade.

We had hope to conduct the Parade outdoors but the weather had other ideas. The evening saw us formally enrol our latest intake who can now move on and engage in further activities whilst continuing their Basic Cadet Training whilst heading towards their Graduation later in the year, we also Graduated two Cadets who started with us in September last year. We also presented Cadet and NCO of the Month Certificates , a Squadron Commanders Commendation and received our Certificate for coming 3rd Place in last years White Rose Trophy.

300 Isle of Axholme Squadron are looking for new members for its Civilian Welfare Committee. The Committee meet approximately every 4 -6 weeks depending on need and are responsible for the Financial Governance of the Squadron and play a key part in decision making around future projects. Yesterday saw some of our Cadets along with Cadets from 2008 Bawtry Sqn ATC visit Polish Bomber Squadrons Centre - RAF Ingham and the International Bomber Command Centre at Lincoln. It was a day that was engaging and thought provoking learning about the connection between Cadburys Roses - The Rose Brothers Factory in Gainsborough and The Rose Turret fitted to Lancaster Bombers and the Machinery used for wrapping sweets such as those found in Cadbury Roses until recently. We also learnt that the Longest side of the Memorial at the IBCC is the Wing Span of a Lancaster Bomber and that there's a number of Air Training Corps Cadets remembered in the walls of Remembrance and our Cadets were tasked to find them and give a moments reflection on the Sacrifice they had given our Country.
