Summer savings for families! Please form an orderly queue while the usual suspects explain why some relief should be cancelled.
GREAT BRITISH SUMMER SAVINGS FOR FAMILY DAYS OUT
I know things are hard right now. We can't control the situation in Iran or turn around years of falling living standards as quickly as we'd like, but easing the cost of living is my number one priority.
So I am delighted that the Chancellor has announced a package of measures to cut costs and make it a bit easier for families to spend quality time together this summer.
Measures include:
✅Free bus travel for children aged 5–15 in England in August
✅VAT cut from 20% down to 5% on trips out, including
- Children’s meals served in restaurants for consumption on the premises - defined as meals served from a children’s menu and marketed, presented and priced as children’s meals.
- Children’s and family tickets for cinema, theatre, exhibitions, shows and concerts.
- Admission tickets - for both children and adults - to attractions such as amusement parks, fairs, circuses, museums, zoos, adventure parks, soft play and observation attractions.
✅Cheaper treats - with a plan to cut import tariffs on over 100 food items, including biscuits, chocolate, fruit, and nuts.

I will do all I can to encourage local tourism and entertainment companies to pass on the full savings to customers, which the government estimates would, on average, save a family of two adults and two children:
£20 off the family’s tickets to a theme park
£2 off entry to soft play
£6 off the family’s tickets to a farm attraction
£17 off the family’s tickets to a wildlife park
£1.50 off the children’s tickets to the cinema
£9 off the family’s tickets to the circus
£2 off the children’s meals on a lunch out
£11 off the family’s tickets to the aquarium
