As National Volunteers week comes to a close we must thank all those that give up there time to help others and serve there community. Search and Rescue would fail to function without the volunteer groups. There roles are vital most being charity's with little or no sponsorship so as well as the role itself they have to fund raise to be able to continue. There are so many volunteer roles available where the skills you have gained throughout your life could indeed benefit others. Perhaps you want to try something new and train for a different role. Volunteering is open to all and there are so many different post. There are several websites available offering volunteer roles within your community so take a look at the volunteer apps and see if there is something that suits you. Search and Rescue offers a varied amount of roles that are vital to the safety of others and there is no better feeling than going home from a duty knowing you was part of a team that saved someone's life or you kept them from harm. Even if you put a smile on the face of a person who is having a particularly bad day it is very rewarding. A big thanks to all volunteers in whatever role you do and to those that have not then give it a try if you are able, it improves your mental health, gets you connected to your community and if you are seeking employment many company's prefer candidates with voluntary experience.
