Cricklade Pre-School Playgroup

Last week the children started off by making biscuits,they weighed the ingredients, stirred,mixed and rolled the biscuit dough into shapes.
They talked about what they were doing, the textures of the ingredients and the changes that would occur before taking them home to taste.
During the week the children talked about their families,the people they loved and Mothers day.
They made some beautiful individual creative cards and candle holders for their mums and talked about what things their mums like and why they love them.
We had some lovely comments including " i love my mum because of her smell" and " I love my mum because she cuddles me".

Please remember that any items for the bags2school collection need to be with us by the 9th March, so you have just a few more days to drop off any donations.
We are also collecting any bric a brac,toys ,books or household items for the jumble trail which can also be dropped off from now until the jumble trail.
If you can help with either of these fundraisers we would really appreciate it and would like to say thank you for all the donations we have had so far.

As the weather has improved slightly,Larry the Lizard has been able to visit again.
The children's confidence in handling him has increased so much with some children now holding him independently.
Each time Larry visits, the children learn about caring for and having respect for living creatures.They watch him feeding and this time they were lucky enough to watch the end of him shredding his skin.
On this visit we noticed the bumps on his legs and learnt that it shows hes male.
Each day Cricklade Pre-School Playgroup is a learning opportunity for not only the children but the adults as well.

We would like to say thank you to everyone who has donated items for the bags2school so far.
We know everyone is struggling with the cost of living but this is a way you can help with our fundraising which doesnt cost anything.
If you are sorting out or having a spring clean this half term please think of us.
We are still collecting for bags2school and are also collecting any bric a brac,toys,games etc for out jumble trail event.

Over the course of this week we have been talking about feelings and how we express them in different ways.
The children have been very busy creating hearts of all shapes and sizes for Valentines day.
They have been practising their physical skills ,mark making skills and their personal and social development.
We have made ribbon hearts,flowers and I love you because hearts.
Several of the comments made when making these were,
I love mummy and daddy because they play the mini game.
I love mummy because she does jobs for me and
I love grandad because I go to his house.

This week we had a visit from the lovely Louise who kindly brought in her Peking bantoms called Wednesday and Buffy for the children to see and learn little about.
The children were very engaged as they listened to the gentle noises they made and watched them feeding.
Louise told the children all about the chickens and where they originated from.She pointed out their feathered feet and explained that she had raised one of the bantoms ,Wednesday from an egg.
The children were all very gentle as they stroked them and they were able to hold the bantoms and feed them from their hands if they wished.
