Welcome to the official RSPCA Oak & Furrows page. We are part of RSPCA North Wiltshire and Newbury District Branch, an independent and self funded branch of the RSPCA. The wildlife rescue centre is open 365 days a year to rehabilitate orphaned, injured or sick British wildlife, with the aim to re-release fit and healthy animals back into the wild. Our work is mostly funded by 10 RPSCA Nor

th Wiltshire and Newbury District Branch charity shops located across the Wiltshire and Newbury District. These shops, and donations from our wonderful supporters, raise funds to keep the centre operating. If you want to volunteer, raise some money or even do a food collection, contact us on [email protected] for advice on how to get involved!

⚠️ Wildlife admissions update ⚠️

Due to a recent influx of baby animals, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily restrict admissions until Monday as we are reaching capacity at our wildlife centre.

This decision has been made to ensure we can continue providing the best possible care for the animals currently with us. While we always want to help every animal that needs us, it’s important that we do not stretch our resources beyond what we can safely manage.

Our team is still available on 01793 640136 to offer advice and guidance, however we are unfortunately unable to attend rescues at this time. We will be prioritising the most urgent cases.

If you find a wild animal in need of rescue, please visit https://bit.ly/4nVvPJX to locate alternative wildlife rescues in your area. Animals with open wounds or suspected broken bones should be taken directly to a vet for emergency wildlife first aid.

If you would like to support us during this especially busy period, we are also currently looking for volunteers to join our team. To find out more about available roles, please visit:

Thank you for your understanding and continued support 💚

Since the 1930s we have lost 97% of our wild flower meadows in the UK! 🤯

Meadows which provide essential habitats for pollinators. Why is this important? Because every plant, or crop that we eat, everything, is dependent on this process.

By purchasing these seeds through us, your money goes directly towards helping animals right here in our local community. ❤️

Helping hedgehogs this May! 🦔

Hedgehogs are in decline across the UK, and our gardens are becoming more important than ever for their survival.

As part of , leaving areas of your garden to grow a little longer can make a real difference for hedgehogs.

With natural habitats becoming harder to find, these small visitors are increasingly relying on green spaces close to home.

You might not always see them, but hedgehogs often pass through gardens at night, using the same routes as they search for food! 💚

We recently had out first fox cubs brought into the wildlife centre. 🦊

At a few days old these tiny animals require round the clock care. Weighing just over 100g at admission, they have already grown to three times that.

We are incredibly lucky to have volunteer foster carers looking after them at home to help with the night feeds! As they grow and start taking solids they will return to the centre.

Foxes are a major part of our ecosystem, and these small foxes were found and initially thought to be kittens.

If you see young foxes, please call us for advice as mum could be close by and we will always try and return them if we can. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible for these three beauties.

We first shared these cubs with our email subscribers back in April. If you’d like to be the first to hear updates like this, you can sign up to our emails 👉 https://bit.ly/4deEDXX

🐱Available for Adoption🐱

11 month old Buddy is a young lad looking for an active family that he can spend lots of time with. He is chock full of energy and loves nothing more than playing with his toys!

Ideally Buddy's new home will have someone who is around for a good part of the day, whether that be working from home or home for at least part of the day. We believe he would definitely benefit from having a feline friend who is also active.

Once Buddy has settled in he will need outside access via catflap, so he can have plenty of adventures and tucker himself out. His new home will need to have its own garden and be away from any busy roads.

If you are interested in learning more about Buddy or getting the adoption process started, please visit:

Spaying and neutering your cat or dog is one of the kindest things you can do for them, it:

✅ Prevents unwanted litters - helping reduce the number of homeless cats and dogs.
✅ Keeps them healthy - spaying lowers the risk of some cancers and infections; neutering helps prevent testicular and prostate problems.
✅ Helps with behaviour - can reduce roaming, marking, or aggression.
✅ Supports your community - fewer stray animals means fewer at risk of injury or disease.

It’s also important to remember that microchipping is a legal requirement in the UK. A microchip is a tiny, permanent form of identification that stays with them for life and can’t fall off like a collar or tag. The procedure is quick, safe, and no more uncomfortable than a routine vaccination.

Taking these small steps can help your pet live a longer, healthier and happier life, while also helping to keep animals in our community safe 💙
