๐Ÿถ ๐——๐—ถ๐—ฑ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐—ธ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜„? ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ

You donโ€™t have to use a dedicated dog waste bin โ€“ bagged dog mess can go in ANY general bin, not just the specific dog bins. With approximately 78 bins across the town, thereโ€™s always one nearby. If you find a bin is full, please take your bag home with you and dispose of it in your general waste bin.

๐Ÿšซ Please donโ€™t use recycling bins for dog waste โ€“ it contaminates the recycling and creates extra work to remove it. Always use a general waste bin instead.

So why do specific dog bins exist? They were originally introduced to encourage responsible disposal, especially in popular dog-walking areas. While all bins can now be used, these dedicated bins remain for convenience.

Who empties the bins?

๐Ÿ”ต Somerset Council โ€“ Responsible for emptying the majority of the bins (streets and car parks) in our town. Report a problem with a bin here: https://www.somerset.gov.uk/.../litter-bins-and-drug-debris/

๐ŸŸข Crewkerne Town Council โ€“ Emptying bins in local open spaces e.g Henhayes, Happy Valley, and Bincombe Beeches Nature Reserve.
Letโ€™s all do our bit to keep Crewkerne clean! ๐ŸŒฟโ™ป๏ธ

๐Ÿชซ Batteries don't belong in the bin - recycle them!
๐Ÿ”ฅ Batteries in the rubbish start fires. Keep them separate and recycle them so the materials inside of them can be used again.
โœ… Many local shops and supermarkets, as well as all of our recycling sites have collection points for batteries.
โ™ป๏ธ Or you can recycle them at the kerbside. Just put them in a tied bag and place in one of the recycling boxes.

To mark the occasion, the flag is flying from the Town Hall as a small tribute to the emergency services and all those who support them.

Thank you to our police officers, firefighters, paramedics, ambulance crews, search and rescue teams and emergency service volunteers for the vital work you do every day.
