Varied few days work.
Visits to look at the land where developments are proposed and talk to concerned residents.
My objections to these applications have now been submitted.
Visits to the YMCA to help with gardening there and also the Cumberland Track to talk to Athletics Coaches there.
Ward walks have provided evidence of footpath concerns and fly tipping and as ever we are looking at parking issues in the area.
Good to speak to residents whilst on the walks and thanks to people who raised issues for us.

Great to see so many people at the joint Sherbourne surgery with the MP, Guinness and our PCSOs today. Thanks to Tracey from the YMCA for hosting and thanks to all residents who attended, you will certainly keep us busy.

I volunteered with Goodgym for two of the Himalayan Balsam Bashing projects on along the Valley Brook near Flag Land baths and the second on Hungerford allotments with allotment holders.
It was great fun but hard work, the balsam has to be pulled out at the right time or the seed pods spread everywhere. You get great satisfaction pulling the balsam out but it has to be at the right height so as not to cause injury to our backs.
Each person can work on a small section, pull out all the balsam and leave in a pile to rot.

Sadly this task is too much for the Goodgym members but I would really like to thank them for their help in the past.

Last year I was told that I could not tackle the task by myself so took the opportunity this year to request that some of the balsam on Macon meadows is pulled out by volunteer groups and I have contacted two groups who might be able to help.

Himalayan balsam is an invasive plant which spreads easily and causes issues in rivers and brooks as it stifles native plants and the seed pods travel along water courses. It also erodes the river bank as the plants fall into the water.

We know this is a huge task.
The balsam needs to be tackled now and I am meeting a leader of a volunteer group on Friday to discuss if we can go ahead and arrange a date . Himalayan balsam is also in the grounds of the old MMU and I will be writing to the present owners to ask for help their side.
It is also in the Business park woodland area and I would love this to be removed but that may have to wait.

If anyone is interested please let us know, we have a great local group Men walking and talking who may be interested as well.

Relaxing ward walk yesterday after a couple of weeks pouring through planning applications and making comments as well as arranging a meeting to discuss one of the applications with residents and visiting people who were concerned about another proposed scheme.

Good to see the reported potholes in Laureston Avenue and Wordsworth Drive have been patched ready for
micro asphalt work in a few weeks all being well.
A lot of fly tipping on the sherbourne estate has been reported.
