I raised concerns, that had been passed to me from Crewe residents, with the Chief Executive of Cheshire East, about the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light Group at the old Webb House in Crewe, back in September of 2025. (see below).
Police action has now taken place but you have got to question why it has taken so long?
Also, Crewe Town Council were very unwise to get so close to the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light Group, even inviting them to the Mayor's Civic Service as recently as February 2026.
The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light Group were previously in Germany and Sweden and had to leave.
Crewe Town Council must have been aware of that.

Rob, The video link below alleges that an employee of Cheshire East has helped Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light, who occupy the old Webb House in Crewe, to avoid violations of planning law. Could you investigate this please to see if there is any truth in it?
https://www.gurumag.com/how-englands-doomsday-cult-infiltrated-crewes-town-council/
Also there are children living there. Have any of your officers visited to ensure there are no safeguarding issues and thet they are receiving the required education?
Also some of the videos they produce are very confrontational in their rhetoric
On their TikTok channel a large group of men, many wearing black beanies, declare they are “soldiers” for Hashem and will fight and die for him.
One is holding a guard dog on a chain.
They were previously in Germany and Sweden and had to leave.
Do you and Cheshire Police have any concerns about what is going on at Webb House in terms of Community Safety?
Thanks for your help.
Best wishes,
Cllr. Brian Silvester

Dear Cllr Silvester

Your case reference: 32989237

I am writing in response to your concerns regarding children residing at Webb House.

A number of recent multi-agency meetings have taken place to identify any children living at the premises and to ensure their health and educational needs are being met. We have worked closely with our safeguarding partners and Ofsted to address any safeguarding concerns and to confirm that children are receiving appropriate education. Ofsted colleagues have visited the premises and have seen children currently residing there. At present, there are no outstanding individual safeguarding or education concerns.

Additionally, colleagues from the Fire Service and Housing will be conducting visits throughout November to continue our oversight and support.

With regard to concerns raised by planning employees, the Planning Department has been made aware and is addressing the matter accordingly.

Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention.

Yours sincerely

This is how would revive Crewe Town Centre.
Labour run Cheshire East needs to re-think plans for Crewe Town Centre...and urgently...... before the entire Town Centre collapses like a house of cards.
The Royal Arcade site has been abandoned.
We currently just have a £11m multi storey car park, that nobody wants and a new Bus Station. The land around was left looking like bomb site for several years. Now it has been turned into a 'green space'.
Over 70 shops have been vacant for far too long (many for years) and 27 shops have been demolished.
Concentrate on getting those that are there let.
The larger units need to be subdivided so they don't pay Business Rates and the rents need to be reduced.
Introduce at least 6 month rent free/rate free periods.
Introduce Incubator Retail Units.
Cheshire East are currently offering CAPITAL grants......but that just shows how out of touch Cheshire East is.
Those grants, which are only payable when the private capital has been invested, will have little impact on the goal of getting the empty shops occupied again.
Make easy in/easy out short leases available.
Make it easier and far cheaper to open a shop in the town centre.
Make it easier for entrepreneurs to take a punt on opening a retail unit in Crewe Town centre.
We have no objection to the upper floors of shops in the town centre being converted to accommodation...........but converting the ground floors would only accelerate the demise of the town centre, by making it even less attractive to visit.
The old M&S store could be opened up as an indoor Market, with numerous stalls. The Outdoor Market should be concentrated on the square by the old M&S and should be revived and encouraged with lower rents than competing Markets in the area.
It is disgraceful how Cheshire East has allowed the Outside Market to disintegrate to virtually nothing.
The Outside Market used to be a hive of activity.
All human life was there !!!
The Labour run Borough and Town Councils should be putting on special events EVERY weekend in the town centre to attract people into the town.
The Town Council should take over the car parks from Cheshire East, so they could then reduce parking charges.
This would attract shoppers into the town.
Regular displays should be put in the windows of the empty shops to make them and the town centre more attractive.
Get local schools to put on displays of their art work in the windows of empty shops.

STOP PRESS.
Labour run Cheshire East want to build 300 homes in the wasteland they have created in the centre of the town. That would be the death knell of the town centre. A far better idea would be to offer the site free of charge to a major retailer. Next to the bus station, it would be an ideal site for a supermarket. Crewe town centre urgently needs more retailers to give locals a reason to visit their town centre. At the moment there is very little there to attract footfall,

Rising costs associated with the pandemic, as well as the cancellation of HS2, have contributed to making the Royal Arcades mixed-use project unviable.
