πŸ“‹ Crediton Town Council met this week to discuss a range of community, governance and financial matters. Here is the round up from the meeting held on Tuesday 01 September 2026.

πŸ“’ The Chair provided a further statement on behaviour at Town Council meetings. Members of the public challenged the chair's revised statement on criticism at council meetings, arguing that the wording risks sounding like a restriction on legitimate scrutiny. Councillors broadly supported protecting staff and individual members from personal attack, but several recognised that the wording still needs refinement.

βœ… Members approved budget adjustments and additional investment of reserves, while ensuring flexibility to support local community needs.

πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ Councillors backed a new expectation to walk, cycle or wheel to meetings where possible, supporting climate action and healthy travel.

πŸ“° Support was given to developing a new Crediton Community Bulletin, working with local partners to improve communication across the town.

πŸ•°οΈ Good news on the Town Clock, with investigations suggesting the issue may be a synchronisation problem rather than a major repair.

🀝 Councillors agreed to continue working with neighbouring councils through the Greater Rural Exeter Area group and noted ongoing developments around local government reorganisation.

We receive many reports of rubbish being dumped, especially on public footpaths surrounding Crediton. Fly tipping is not only an eye sore, but hazardous waste can pose a real risk to people's health.
