Today is the start of with Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK

Taking place from 13-20 June 2026, the campaign helps children aged 5–17 learn essential water safety skills ahead of the summer holidays.

With the warmer months comes increased risk of our teams attending incidents where people have got into difficulty in water - as was so tragically the case across the UK during May's heatwave.

Please share to help spread this life-saving message.

Stay safe around water this summer. Remember:

⚠️ Think carefully before entering any open water. Conditions can change quickly and hidden hazards such as currents, cold water shock and sudden depth changes are not always visible. Where possible, choose designated swimming areas with lifeguard supervision.
⚠️ If you get into difficulty in water, focus on controlling your breathing. Try to remain calm and float on your back to help stay afloat and conserve energy while you wait for assistance.
⚠️ If you see someone in trouble, do not attempt a rescue by entering the water. Call 999 immediately and request the fire service for inland water incidents or the coastguard for coastal or tidal areas.

The countdown is on.

With just weeks to go until their 55-mile charity cycle ride, members of the SECAmb executive team are continuing their training and preparing to take on the challenge across Surrey and Sussex.

Interim Chief Executive Jen Allan will be joined David Ruiz-Celeda, (previous Chief Strategy Officer) Deputy Chief Nursing Officer Jo Turner and Director of Resilience & Specialist Operations Lucas Hawkes-Frost as they help launch Outrun an Ambulance, SECAmb Charity's new fundraising challenge.

The team have been fitting training rides around busy schedules and are looking forward to helping raise awareness of the campaign and the difference charitable support can make for patients, communities and ambulance colleagues across our region.

If you'd like to support the executive team's challenge, donations can be made via their JustGiving page.

Feeling inspired? Why not sign up for your own Outrun an Ambulance challenge and help us collectively beat 936 miles this summer.

📣 It’s National Automotive Service Professionals Day, an opportunity to thank the hard work of the mechanics, technicians and support staff who keep SECAmb’s fleet running smoothly.

🚑 Across the workshop technician team, we are fortunate to have 1,405 years of collective experience! And they are continuously training as industry technology evolves, including electric vehicles and complex onboard diagnostics, to keep our crews on the road and able to respond when our communities need them. Thank you, team!

⚽⚽⚽With the World Cup under way and as we head into the weekend, a reminder of how you can get ahead of the game this summer.

Please enjoy the football responsibly and remember that hotter weather and key World Cup matches are expected to place additional pressure on our services.

We’ll be busy prioritising our response to our most seriously ill and injured patients and if your call isn’t an emergency our clinicians may direct you to alternative care, avoiding an unnecessary trip to A&E.

Help us help you this summer by:

🚑Keeping 999 for emergencies
📱Making use of alternatives including NHS 111 including online
🙋Speaking to a pharmacist
💦Staying hydrated
⛅Wearing sunscreen
👀Keeping a close eye on children and checking older and vulnerable relatives, friends and neighbours.

Head over our website via the link in our bio for more advice to stay safe this summer.💚

This week, we’ve unveiled our brand-new Pride ambulance as part of Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈

Made possible thanks to generous sponsorship from SECAmb trade unions - Unison and GMB, this specially designed vehicle reflects our commitment to inclusive patient care and celebrating diversity across our teams and the communities we serve. 💛

You’ll see it out and about at Pride events this summer before it goes fully operational in September 2026.

Huge thanks to UNISON, GMB Union and Jellyfish Design for making it happen 👏

It’s great to see the hard work of our teams paying off. 🙌

We’ve maintained a strong position in the latest National Oversight Framework (NOF) results published this week - holding fourth place among ambulance services for Q4 2025/26, a particularly challenging winter period.

We remain in Segment 2 (of 5), with strong performance across key areas - especially response times and financial management.

This reflects sustained improvement and real progress from our clinically-led strategy - improving response times and patient pathways, and ensuring more people get the right care, first time.

It’s also backed up by the CQC, with both Urgent & Emergency Care and Emergency Operations Centres now rated ‘Good’.

There’s more to do, but a huge thank you to everyone at SECAmb for building such a solid platform to grow from. 💚

Just weeks after Andrew, 51, went into cardiac arrest at home in Hove, he and his family got the chance to meet with some of the people who helped save his life.

After collapsing without warning due to a rare heart condition, Brugada syndrome, Andrew's civil partner, Dominique, immediately called 999. Emergency Medical Advisor, Alice, guided them through those first terrifying minutes and their 15-year-old daughter Rosa bravely began CPR.

When SECAmb crews arrived, they worked quickly to restart Andrew's heart giving him a second chance.

At the reunion, Andrew met Alice, Resource Dispatcher Daniel, Paramedic Alex and Critical Care Paramedic Ben - some of the team who helped him.

💬 “It’s overwhelming to think about how many people came together to give me another chance… every single person played a part in me still being here today.”

The reunion was also a chance to recognise Rosa’s incredible courage. Her quick actions in those first few minutes gave Andrew the best possible chance of survival.

🚨 A Surrey paramedic is taking on an ‘oarsome’ challenge, attempting to row 2,000 miles around the Great British coastline.

💪 Kit Nelson is part of the six-strong team tackling the GB Row Challenge, putting their strength, stamina and resilience to the test while gathering research to preserve marine environments and wildlife.

🚣‍♂️ The 26-year-old paramedic based at ambulance station had no previous rowing experience before getting involved.

🌊 “This is very much a leap into the deep end when it comes to endurance challenges,” said Kit.
