Citizens Advice South West Surrey provides free, confidential and impartial advice on issues including debt, benefits, household bills and money management.

Our advisers can help you understand your situation, explore your options and find out what support may be available.

If you are worried about your finances, get in touch with Citizens Advice South West Surrey on 0808 812 7087 or visit www.casws.org.uk.

A cancer diagnosis can have a significant impact on your finances as well as your health. Changes to your income, additional household costs and travelling to appointments can all create financial pressure at a difficult time.

The service can help with questions about benefits and financial support, including understanding what you may be entitled to, making a benefits application or appealing a decision. Advice can also cover issues such as housing, employment and debt.

If you or someone close to you is affected by cancer and you are worried about your finances, our specialist Macmillan Money and More South East service can help.

You can also find out more about the advice available through Citizens Advice South West Surrey at [www.casws.org.uk](http://www.casws.org.uk).

Struggling to keep up with your mortgage payments?

Support for Mortgage Interest (SMI) is a loan from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) that can help towards the interest on your mortgage or certain other home loans.

You may be able to get SMI if you receive Universal Credit or Pension Credit.

It’s important to remember that SMI is a loan. Interest is charged, so you’ll repay more than you borrow. You’ll usually repay the loan when you sell your home or transfer ownership.

If you’re considering SMI, you should compare it with other ways of paying your mortgage and consider how much you could borrow, the interest charged and when you would need to repay it.

You may need to get advice before applying if you’ve missed mortgage payments, have other debts, own your home with someone who isn’t part of your benefit claim, or are considering buying another home.

For more information about Support for Mortgage Interest and how to apply, visit the Citizens Advice website.
