We spent some time in Eastfield Lea yesterday afternoon and collected some litter whilst walking around. It was good to see that Highways have resurfaced part of the car park off Axminster after we raised our concerns.
The highlight of our afternoon was meeting local resident Jack Hearn - a quite remarkable man. Jack has just been awarded a BEM (British Empire Medal) for services to Judo along with his time in the Northumberland Fusiliers during WW2.
Jack is now 102yrs. I hope to speak further with him soon and put an article in our next newsletter about his life.

Alan and I spent an hour or so this morning litter picking. We have some wonderful residents in Cramlington who regularly go out and help keep our neighbourhoods tidy. Of course, it doesn't help when strong winds on blue bin day topple many bins over.
Would you like to see co-ordinated litter picks on your estate? In just a couple of hours we can make such a difference.
We can provide all equipment.

Eastfield car park has experienced ongoing anti-social behaviour for many years, including fly-tipping, broken glass, and drug paraphernalia.

When the asset transfer took place, Rockets Foundation took on full responsibility for the site, including the car park, something many people are unaware of.

The cost of maintenance, fly-tipping removal, and regular clear-ups has so far cost the charity £3,547.44.

With support from our local councillors, Rockets Foundation has now installed a barrier to help manage these ongoing issues.
