Northumbria Army Cadet Force

Northumbria Army Cadet Force England’s most northerly Army Cadet County stretching from the Scottish Borders to the river Tyne It is also one of the oldest tracing its history back to 1859.

For action and adventure, fun and friendship, the Army Cadet Force is hard to beat. With 41,000 cadets (aged 12-18) and 9,500 adults in over 1,600 locations in every corner of the United Kingdom, the ACF is one of the country’s largest voluntary youth organisations. Many young people are missing out on the challenges and adventures that could transform their lives but joining the Army Cadets can change that. We welcome boys and girls (aged over 12 and in at least year eight at school) of all abilities and backgrounds. When they join us we encourage them to learn more, do more and try more. We inspire them to aim high and pursue their goals, no matter what they aim to do in life. Some of our activities have a military theme, others have more of a community focus but they all inspire young people to challenge their limits, become more independent, confident and able to step up to any challenge. The Army Cadet Force is one of four cadet organisations sponsored and supported by the Ministry of Defence, the others being the Combined Cadet Force, the Sea Cadet Corps, and the Air Training Corps. Although they are sponsored by the Ministry of Defence there is no obligation on cadets to join the Armed Forces.

Last night we brought together 60+ senior cadets for a Senior Cadet Regimental Dinner - the first time in a couple of years.

Following a days training covering a range of topics including emergency first aid and leadership, the senior cadets then swapped their MTP for evening wear as they descended upon St Cuthbert’s Keep in Newcastle.

We were delighted to have as our guests, under the invitation of Colonel White, Dr Pryer - Lord-Lieutenant of Northumberland , and Colonel Owen - Regional Colonel Cadets. Both of whom provided inspiring words for those present.

Thank you to Colonel White and the team behind the scenes who supported with the planning of the event and delivery on the evening.

Final Parade ✅

Last night the County was on parade for the final address by our Padres and message of thanks and celebration from Commandant Colonel White.

The sky stayed clear as the sun dropped on our last gathering of Annual Camp.

So many achievements made by cadets and adult volunteers across the board.

Well, that brings another Annual Camp to a close.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part and helped make this such a fantastic experience.

To visitors, supporters, parents, and friends of the organisation: your encouragement, energy and involvement mean a great deal.

Most importantly, to our team, we simply could not have delivered this awesome opportunity for our young people and adults without your commitment dedication determination, hard work, and the values you represent.

Lord-Lieutenant of Northumberland was delighted to present on behalf of High Sheriff of Northumberland, certificates to recognise dedicated and valuable service to the community for cadets and adult volunteers.

In addition, the Commandant presented special gifts to Brigadier Jeremy Dodd as a thanks for support to the county and as a commemoration of his recent promotion to Brigadier.

Secondly, the Commandant presented Colonel Peter Stitt, Commander of the British Army in the North, with a thank you gift as he ends his tour of duty as Commander.
