🚒🔥 It’s Child Safety Week, and we’re shining a light on our little lifesavers in the making… say hello to Nico!

At just five years old, Nico is helping us share important fire safety messages with children across our communities. Learning simple actions like “Stop, Drop and Roll” and taking part in family fire safety routines can make a big difference.

At Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service, we know that building safe habits early helps protect families for life. 💛

🌿💚 Volunteers’ Week in action! 💚🌿

The NFRS King’s Trust Team students had a fantastic day at Alnwick Gardens.

From weeding and creating flowerbeds, to helping prepare lunch for fellow volunteers, our young people rolled up their sleeves and made a real difference.

A huge thank you to the team at Alnwick Gardens for having us and supporting such a rewarding experience!

It’s Child Safety Week 👧🧒🚒

This week, and all year round, we are encouraging families to take a few simple steps to help keep children safe at home:

✅ Test your smoke alarms regularly
✅ Keep matches and lighters out of children’s reach
✅ Create and practise a home escape plan
✅ Never leave cooking unattended
✅ Teach children how and when to call 999 in an emergency

Small actions can make a big difference in keeping our young people safe.

Cold water shock can affect your breathing and make it difficult to swim and lead to drowning.

It may be tempting to cool off in open water such as rivers, lakes and reservoirs but cold water can kill.

🌡️ Temperatures are soaring across Northumberland, bringing an increased risk of wildfires.

Take a peek behind the scenes as our Wildfire Lead, Rob Stacey, conducts a multi-agency wildfire exercise in the Simonside Hills. Working alongside our partner agencies, these exercises help us prepare, respond and protect our communities, countryside and wildlife when wildfire incidents occur.

As the weather heats up, remember:
