πŸ₯Š Learning lessons that could save lives πŸš’

West Hartford Red Watch recently dropped into NFRS Boxing Club to meet some of the area's up-and-coming boxing talent.

As well as talking all things boxing, firefighters delivered an engaging road safety session, giving young people the chance to see specialist rescue equipment used at road traffic collisions and learn how simple choices, like wearing a seatbelt or helmet, can make a huge difference.

A brilliant session with a great group of young people. Good luck to everyone as they continue their boxing journey! πŸ‘πŸ₯Š

⚑🚲 Thinking about buying an e-bike or e-scooter?

Most are safe when used properly, but lithium-ion batteries can cause serious fires if they're damaged, poorly made or charged incorrectly.

Help reduce the risk:

πŸ”₯ Buy from trusted retailers
πŸ”‹ Use the correct charger and battery
βš™οΈ Get professional advice before making modifications
⏰ Avoid overcharging
πŸŒ™ Never charge while you're asleep
πŸšͺ Keep batteries away from exits and escape routes

A lithium-ion battery fire can spread quickly and produce large amounts of toxic smoke.

πŸ”οΈ πŸš’ An incredible achievement from our colleagues at Seahouses Fire Station!

A team of firefighters recently took on the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, reaching the final summit within 24 hours despite some very challenging weather conditions, including plenty of rain along the way.

The challenge was organised in support of The Fire Fighters Charity, a cause close to the hearts of firefighters across the UK. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, the team smashed their fundraising target and raised an amazing amount for the charity.

A huge well done to Jonny Haile, Ross Stanton, Jason Liddell, Michael Burke, Sophie Allan, Josh Jackson and the rest of the team for their determination, teamwork and commitment.

Thank you to everyone who donated and supported the team throughout their journey. If you would like to donate, please click the link below πŸ‘β€οΈ

πŸš’πŸŒΏ Some of our Wildfire Team members were at the Bellingham Show, chatting with visitors about wildfire prevention and giving a demonstration alongside our partners from Northumbria Police and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue.

It was a great opportunity to showcase how emergency services work together to keep our communities and countryside safe. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello! πŸ‘‹

Retained. Ready. Responding.

Could you do this as a retained firefighter? πŸš’

Smoke-filled rooms. Open water pumping. Breathing apparatus. Remote locations.

This is exactly the kind of training our retained firefighters take on.

Retained crews from Hexham, Allendale and Haltwhistle came together at Whitfield Hall for a realistic training exercise, preparing for the unique challenges of responding to incidents in rural Northumberland.

With no fire hydrants on site, crews had to set up an open water supply from the lake, relay water over 10 lengths of hose, and carry out breathing apparatus operations inside the hall.

Training like this helps our retained firefighters build the skills and confidence to respond when their communities need them most.

Think you've got what it takes to join your local crew? Could you answer the call? πŸ”₯

Rain this weekend? Looks like the tumble dryer is about to become the hardest-working appliance in the house. πŸŒ§οΈπŸ‘•

Before you hit start, give the lint filter a clean and make sure your dryer has plenty of ventilation. It only takes a minute and could help prevent a fire.

Smoke-filled buildings. Casualty rescues. Pumping water from remote locations.

Just another training night for our On-Call Firefighters. πŸ’ͺ

These photos were taken during a training exercise at Whitfield Hall, where crews from Allendale, Haltwhistle and Hexham put their skills to the test in a realistic incident scenario.

Our On-Call Firefighters live and work in the communities they protect, balancing the role alongside their day jobs, families and everyday life. When the alerter sounds, they respond when their community needs them most.

We’re recruiting across Northumberland, including Allendale, Haltwhistle, Alnwick, Amble, Belford, Bellingham, Ponteland, Rothbury, Seahouses and Wooler.

Think you've got what it takes? We'd love to hear from you.

We know. We’re a day late for ... don’t hound us. 🐢

We’d like to officially welcome the newest recruit to Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service: our Dog Simulator.

We have already deployed it with great success. Zero complaints. 100% good boy. Outstanding performance in training.

There’s just one problem... they don't have a name.

Give us your best suggestions below. Fire service puns are strongly encouraged. πŸ‘‡πŸš’

"Could you be eligible for a Home Fire Safety Check?"

That's the question Kirsty from our Prevention Team is answering in today's video.

We were delighted to be part of the Spartan Community Games, speaking to local residents about fire safety and booking Home Fire Safety Checks throughout the day.

Give the video a watch and see if you or someone you know could benefit.
