Our Coastguard Rescue Teams operate on an on-call/pager system, which means many of our current team members attend call-outs alongside their normal jobs and day-to-day commitments.

Lough Neagh Call-out. More details may follow.

***Update***

🚨 Lough Neagh Coastguard Response

The Lough Neagh Coastguard Team was tasked at 10:20 on Monday 7th September 2026 following reports of a broken-down vessel just off Bannfoot on Lough Neagh, with two persons on board.

With the assistance of Lough Neagh Rescue, the casualty vessel was assessed and safely towed to Maghery, where they were handed over to our Shoreline Coastguard Rescue Team.

A shoreline assessment was conducted and safety advice was provided. Once safely moored, all persons on board confirmed that they required no further assistance.

The team returned to the station at approximately 12:30 and remains ready for the next tasking.

🌊 If you are heading out on the water, always ensure you have the appropriate safety equipment and means of calling for assistance should you get into difficulty.

🚨 Lough Neagh Coastguard Response

The Lough Neagh Coastguard Team was alerted at 16:10 following concerns over a possible flare sighting above Lough Neagh.

The team carried out a thorough search of the area; however, there were no visible signs of distress or anyone requiring assistance. The team was subsequently stood down at approximately 18:10.

While this was thankfully a false alarm, the report was made in good faith, and we would always encourage members of the public to report anything they believe could indicate someone may be in distress.

If you see a suspected distress flare or have concerns for someone’s safety at sea or on the water, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

It is always better to report a concern and allow the Coastguard to investigate than to ignore something that could potentially save a life.
