✈️🇫🇷 Horizons participants from across Northern Ireland recently came together to begin their final preparations for Annecy, France!

Young people spent time discussing group agreements, sharing any worries, and exploring the positives and challenges they may experience during the international residential. 🌍💬

The session also gave participants the opportunity to learn what to expect during the trip and build relationships with all participants through a range of fun team-building activities and games led by our Outdoor Learning Staff. 🤝🎯

Excitement is building as we get closer to this fantastic international experience - 23 days 🥳! 🌟

Yesterday, we were delighted to be invited to Drumgor Primary School Primary 7 Leavers’ Assembly ❤️

It was fantastic to see soo many talented young people showcasing their skills, confidence and acting abilities. A huge well done to all the pupils on a brilliant performance.

🔥𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐨𝐧𝐬🔥

This week, participants from the Horizons (Craigavon) Leadership Programme explored Global Issues, Local Actions, learning how leadership can start locally and contribute to positive global change 🌍 🌟

By the end of the session, young people had increased their understanding of global issues, explored ways they can influence change, and recognised how small actions can have a big impact.

Following the programme, participants also put their leadership skills into practice by volunteering within youth provision 👏🏻

Tonight at DYC we welcomed the Brownlow Neighbourhood Policing Team🌟

Young people took part in positive discussions around risk-taking behaviours and making safe choices, while also enjoying football and friendly competition in the sports hall.

A big thank you to the officers for their time and support in building positive relationships with young people 🔥

🔥Craigavon Horizons Leadership Programme🔥

Tonight, participants took part in the Pre-Annecy Programme session, exploring the question: “If you were a world leader, what would you do?”

Through fun discussions and activities, members considered the challenges faced by global leaders, the importance of decision-making, listening to others, and the qualities needed to lead effectively. Young people shared their opinions, debated different viewpoints, and developed their confidence in expressing ideas.💡

Alongside this, members also completed vocational training focused on Mental Health Awareness, helping them build knowledge and understanding of the importance of looking after their own wellbeing and supporting others 🧠

Yesterday, centre Leader in Charge attended the Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes campaign training, focusing on coercive control and the impact abuse can have on children and young people.

An important training day that encouraged reflection, increased understanding and reinforced the important message of supporting children and young people at the earliest opportunity.
