Today we said goodbye to a true local legend. Nigel Bruce was a fixture of Cowes High Street for many years with his emporium of eclectic antiques and memorabilia “That Shop”. He made many friends, not only the locals who would see him on a daily basis but also countless holiday makers and day trippers, many of whom made regular pilgrimages to Cowes just to see Nigel.
He was a kind and generous man who was genuinely loved by all who knew him and when he had to give up the shop due to ill health the High Street was just not the same.
Nigel’s daughters organised a wonderful funeral, full of jokes, laughter, a few tears, and anecdotes from a life well lived. Well done girls, your Dad would have been so proud of you.
