A fantastic effort from our 13 cadets who took part in the annual Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing Athletics competition.

The team performed brilliantly throughout the day, bringing home an impressive medal haul of:

🥇 3 Gold Medals🥈 1 Silver Medal🥉 7 Bronze Medals

Their determination, sportsmanship and commitment were evident in every event, and they should all be incredibly proud of their achievements.

Officer Commanding, Flt Lt Paul Atkinson, said:

"The effort and determination shown by all 13 cadets was outstanding. Representing the squadron at wing level takes dedication and courage, and to return with 11 medals is a remarkable achievement. Every cadet should be extremely proud of what they have accomplished."

Congratulations to all involved and thank you to the staff and supporters who helped make the day a success.

🌟60 YEARS🌟

Tonight, we say a massive goodbye to Flying Officer Collins and Warrant Officer Collins, two pillars of this squadron whose combined 60 years of passion and commitment have shaped us all. Warrant Officer Collins, in particular, dedicated himself to the shooting side of cadet training, pouring years into refining cadets' marksmanship, safety, and confidence on the range. He didn’t just teach technique—he fostered a sense of responsibility and self-discipline, ensuring every cadet understood the importance behind each shot. Flying Officer Collins, equally devoted, was a beacon of mentorship—she spent countless hours inspiring cadets, pushing them to believe in themselves, and guiding them through every challenge. Together, they built a culture of excellence—whether on the range, in the classroom, or in leadership. We are forever grateful for their tireless contributions; their legacy is woven into the very heart of this squadron, and they will be so deeply, so profoundly missed.

🌟JNCO NIGHT🌟

A huge congratulations to our newly promoted Corporals, who this week stepped up to lead their very first JNCO night!

Taking charge of the evening, they planned and delivered a range of engaging mini-games and activities designed to challenge, develop, and inspire the cadets—showing exactly what leadership in RAFAC is all about.

From organisation and communication to teamwork and confidence, they demonstrated the skills that have earned them their new ranks and proved themselves to be truly inspirational role models for the next generation of cadets.

Leading for the first time can always be daunting, but each of them rose to the challenge brilliantly, creating a fun and supportive environment while building their own experience as junior leaders.

Nights like these are an important milestone, not only for their own development, but for the continued strength and future of 163 Squadron.
A fantastic first step in their journey as NCOs—we can’t wait to see how they continue to grow and lead.

🎉THE GRAND FINALE🎉

(And what a way to end it 👀)

Today saw CWO Collins embark on his final duty as lord lieutenants cadet. After a year of new and exciting opportunities, and some unforgettable moments, he was invited to attend The Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, where he met a variety of experienced personnel who all had good advice for his future application into the RAF or Royal Marines Band Service 🥁. Massive congratulations on all you have achieved Cadet Warrant Office in your tenure and we look forward to seeing what more you achieve as you remain a credit to the Corps👏👏
