We’re very sorry to let you know RIAT will not be taking place this year.

We know how much the event means to so many of you—our visitors, volunteers, partners, and the wider RIAT community. We fully recognise how disappointing this news will be.

The whole team at Douglas Bader House, and across the wider organisation, has worked tirelessly over the past 10 months to bring this year’s show to life. We have had to take this difficult decision following extensive discussions with the Royal Air Force and the United States Air Force regarding uncertainty over access to RAF Fairford, given the ongoing situation in the Middle East.

We’ll be in touch again by the end of May with details regarding your RIAT26 tickets. At that point you will be offered three options:

· Roll over your tickets to RIAT27
· Request a full refund
· Donate the value of your ticket to the RAF Charitable Trust

In the meantime, you can find further information and updates on our website and FAQs page: https://www.airtattoo.com/

Thank you for your loyalty and ongoing support as a member of the RIAT community. It genuinely means a great deal to us.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2027.

—— Corsham 10K ——

Our cadets were proud to be out in the local community today, supporting the Corsham 10K Run by assisting at the first water station on the route.

Throughout the event, the cadets helped hand out water to runners as they passed, showing great teamwork, enthusiasm, and community spirit while supporting everyone taking part.

Before the race began, the cadets also enjoyed watching the impressive parade of classic cars, which was a great way to begin the day.

Once the runners had passed and the work was done, the cadets found a fun use for the leftover water by giving CI Foster a refreshing end to the day!

Well done to all of our cadets who volunteered and represented the squadron so well.

🚨 Squadron Communications Update 🚨

We’re pleased to announce that our squadron has been selected to take part in a new RAF Air Cadets communications trial involving the use of carrier pigeons for message delivery between units. 🐦

As part of the programme, cadets will begin training in Pigeon Handling and Tactical Release Procedures over the coming weeks.

Training will include:
• Advanced pigeon navigation
• Message capsule attachment
• In-flight pigeon recovery

If successful, pigeon handling could become part of the Blue Communications Badge syllabus in the future.

More details will be shared once our first team of pigeons arrives at the squadron.

— First Aid —

Four of our cadets recently travelled to 1995 (Bradford on Avon) Squadron to complete their Youth First Aid course, earning the Bronze First Aid Badge.

The course took place over Saturday and Sunday, where the cadets spent the weekend learning and developing essential first aid skills. Throughout the training they covered a range of important topics, building the confidence and knowledge needed to respond in emergency situations.

Well done to all four cadets for their hard work and commitment across the weekend, and a big thank you to 1995 Bradford on Avon Sqn, RAFAC for hosting the course.

— Awards —

Congratulations to two of our cadets who have successfully achieved their Blue Space Award.

The award recognises their understanding of the basics of space, including key concepts and knowledge of the space environment. It’s a great achievement and an exciting area of learning within the RAF Air Cadets.

A special mention also goes to one of these cadets who has gone on to achieve their Leading Cadet classification, demonstrating continued commitment, progression, and hard work on the squadron.

Well done to both cadets on their achievements – keep up the great work!
