Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is reminding residents that the current dry weather means the Fire Severity Index for the county is high.

Even a small spark can lead to a large fire — and many incidents we attend are preventable.

🚭 Protect our countryside and communities:
• Never drop ci******es or matches on the ground, especially from vehicles
• Ensure ci******es are fully extinguished and disposed of responsibly
• Avoid smoking near dry grass, hedgerows or open land

Help us by:
• not lighting fires or disposable BBQs in open spaces
• taking all litter home — glass can intensify heat and ignite fires
• report any signs of fire immediately by calling 999

Wildfires can spread rapidly, putting lives, property, wildlife and emergency crews at risk. Your actions matter — please stay alert and help keep Northamptonshire safe.

Knife crime encompasses various offences involving the use or presence of knives, including carrying, threatening, and using knives to harm others. It also extends to instances like thieves using knives in robberies, gang-related knife offences, and minors attempting to buy knives. This type of crime poses significant risks to public safety and requires stringent measures to combat it effectively.
