Today is VE Day (Victory in Europe Day), commemorating 8 May 1945 when the Second World War ended in Europe. It reminds us to honour the sacrifices made by the people of Corby at home and abroad, and of the values of democracy, cooperation, and peace. As we remember those events, we are reminded of the importance of standing together in challenging times.

A reminder from North Northamptonshire Council

📢 Please note: There are no scheduled elections taking place tomorrow (Thursday 7 May) 2026 apart from the election for Kettering Town Council (Hanwood Park Ward).

Many local elections are taking place elsewhere in England on this date, but North Northamptonshire is not part of this election cycle.

North Northamptonshire Council holds whole council elections every four years - the last one was in May 2025, and the next is scheduled for May 2029.

There may still be Town or Parish Council by-elections happening locally throughout the year, as these take place whenever a vacancy arises. You can find details of these here: 👉 www.northnorthants.gov.uk/councillors-and-democracy
