Some memorials become part of the landscape. Others become part of who we are.

From the Tommy Statue Seaham overlooking the Durham coastline, to Scotland’s tribute in The Call 1914 Memorial, to the historic Ulster Tower standing on the Somme — each represents remembrance, sacrifice, and stories that must never be forgotten.

Some symbols need no explanation.

Today, on the anniversary of the battle for Mount Longdon, I was sent this - a solitary poppy standing alone in the middle of a rough farm track. Not carefully planted, definitely not perfect conditions. Just a demonstration of resilience pushing through harsh ground.

Perhaps that is why the poppy became the symbol of remembrance. After the devastation of war, when landscapes were torn apart by conflict, poppies were among the first flowers to return, quietly reclaiming the ground and reminding us that even after the darkest moments, life continues.

For those who served, for those who never came home, and for the generations who followed, remembrance is not only about looking back. It is about recognising what was sacrificed so that life could grow again.

Sometimes, all it takes is a single poppy to remind us why we remember.

Father's Day is on 21st June 2026

21 June 2026. It's a Sunday. It's Father's Day. It's 6 working days away. It's very soon. You need a gift. You want to be the favourite child. We have gifts. If you order now you can have those gifts in time.

Repeat after me - Father's Day is next weekend. Royal Mail works at a snail's pace. Royal Mail may not deliver on a Saturday. If I leave it until Thursday 18th June to order I will be too late. I will immediately buy a totally brilliant thing for whoever I think deserves one from these people.

Just a reminder that your model kits and this hot weather may not like each other. Sunny conservatories, hot mancave sheds, even collecting the parcel from the local Royal Mail depot and leaving it in the car for a couple of days - might have unfortunate consequences!!!

Looking for help.

I know there is a strict order to the way these badges are laid out. I also know there is historical beef between a few members of the Guards family. I’m looking for a layout that will not offend anyone.

We’ve absolutely loved seeing the photographs customers have been sending us of their completed display kits and workshop setups recently. Some of the paint finishes and presentation ideas have been brilliant.
Because we know many of you enjoy seeing how others choose to display and finish their kits, we’re currently working on an additional place where we can properly share customer builds, ideas and finished displays together in one dedicated space.
